FORES Students Led The Pledges
Thank you to students from Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary for leading the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge.
They also had great questions for our Board members!
Board Approves Mid-Year Compensation Adjustment
The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees approved two mid-year compensation adjustments.
The first is a pay increase of $1.25 per hour for hourly staff effective January 1, 2025. The rate increase does not apply to Transportation staff who received a raise in September.
Additionally, the Board approved a one-time retention incentive of $300 for all employees (except substitutes, temporary employees, and contract employees) who have been employed with the district as of November 18, 2024.
The pay increase and retention incentive reflect the Board's appreciation of the hard work, dedication and commitment that district staff bring to their positions every day.
Strategic Plan Update: Student Success
Early Childhood Programs
This report reflected:
- An annual update on the Early Childhood Program that included: Pre-Kindergarten, Phonics, Reading Academy
- An update on House Bill 3 requiring high-quality prekindergarten components in classrooms serving eligible four-year-old students
- Support systems in place for Instructional Coaches and professional learning for teachers
Strategic Plan Update: Family & Community Engagement
Creating Connections
This presentation reflects:
- District goal for Family and Community Engagement
- Data points for engagement
- Research and trends
- Example of collaborative family and community engagement within BISD
Annual Technology Report
This report:
- Provides an overview of district technology initiatives and services
- Highlights technology services impacting the learning environment
Board Member Reports
Legislative Activities (Rich Sena)
The 89th Legislative session will begin January 12, 2025 and members of the Board will travel to Austin within the first 60 days of the session.
Finance Committee (Garrett Wilson)
The committee met this month and discussed mid-year compensation scenarios and the appraisal district voting resolutions.
PTO (Kristi Schmidt)
The PTO presidents met on November 1 with a guest speaker who spoke on the importance of partnering with Rotary Clubs. BEF gave a Giving Day recap and Dr. O'Hare spoke on various district updates.
Technology Committee (Dallas Pipes)
The Content Filtering Committee met to discuss input on content filtering practices in the district. The committee reviewed practices, usage of filtering software, and requests to unblock blocked sites.
Superintendent Report
Dr. Crafts' report included:
Current enrollment of 11,102 students.
Our schools did a wonderful job recognizing Veteran's Day with celebrations across the district. Dr. Craft thanked the Board for supporting and attending the events.
Congratulations to our middle and high school students for their fall performances.
The Board and Superintendent Listen and Learns continue this fall and it has been a great way to receive feedback directly from our students.
Campus and department leaders are reviewing feedback from the fall staff surveys and data will be used to inform future decisions by the district.
Boerne ISD values feedback and a parent survey will go out in mid-January.
Van Raub Elementary is hosting NCAA Fan Jam as our schools participate in the Read to the Final 4 reading contest.
Budget Strategy Advisory Committee will meet for a second time. Meeting details are shared online.
The academic calendar survey will be released to the community for feedback and will close for voting on Tuesday, December 3.

Core Values in Action Student Recipient
This month's Core Values in Action Student Recipient is 8th grade Boerne Middle School South student Gabriella Maszak. Gabby sets the bar high in and outside of the classroom at BMSS. She is an incredible athlete, participating in Volleyball, Basketball and Track. She is currently the captain of the volleyball team, and she also plays on the 14's Premier team for Alamo Volleyball Association.

BEF WOW Moment
This month's BEF WOW moment highlights how theater students at Boerne Middle School North create costumes and set designs for student performances.
