PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Parents and Guardians,
As we move forward into the month of November, I wanted to take a moment to share some important updates and express my gratitude for your continued support.
Firstly, I encourage all parents to check their students' Focus accounts to review your student's 9-week grades. This is a crucial time to ensure that our students are on track and to identify any areas where they may need additional support. Here are a few steps you can take to support your child:
- Review Grades Together: Sit down with your child and go over their grades. Celebrate their successes and discuss any challenges they may be facing.
- Set Goals: Help your child set realistic goals for the next grading period. Encourage them to focus on areas where they can improve.
- Communicate with Teachers: If you have any concerns or questions about your child's progress, don't hesitate to reach out to their teachers. Open communication is key to supporting your child's education.
I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the wonderful messages and gestures of appreciation during Principal's Month. Your kindness and support mean the world to me and make my role as principal even more rewarding.
As we look ahead to November, let's focus on the theme of success. Success comes in many forms, whether it's academic achievements, personal growth, or acts of kindness. Let's encourage our students to strive for their best and celebrate their accomplishments, no matter how big or small. 1% better every day!
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. Together, we can make this school year a successful and inspiring one.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Courtney Lundy

Safety and Security
North Parking Lot
We would like to inform you about the updated security legislation that requires all gates, including our perimeter gates, to be closed at all times. In line with this new policy, we will continue to keep our south parking lot closed.
Additionally, Brevard Public Schools (BPS) will be installing a fence to ensure the full closure of the outer perimeter of our campus. We kindly ask that our parking lot not be used as a walk-through to Publix or for other endeavors. This measure is essential to ensure the safety of our students at all times.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Bus Lanes and Pick Up
We want to remind everyone about the importance of safety in our parking lot. Please do not obstruct our bus lanes and avoid parking in zones marked with yellow lines indicating no parking. It's crucial to follow the signs that distinguish between bus lanes and car lanes. Your cooperation is essential in ensuring everyone's safety.
Back Parking Lot
Starting from December 1st, we will be locking the gate at the back of the school. After the first period bell, all students will be required to enter the campus through the front office. This change is to ensure that we follow our metal detector procedures, maintaining one access point during the school day.
Please note that if your student arrives after first period, they will need to park in the front parking lot, as the back gate will remain locked throughout the school day due to the absence of a metal detector.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement these new safety measures to ensure the well-being of all our students.
Open Gate- Metal Detectors- Safety and Security
To enhance the safety and security of our campus, we will start using the OPENGATE® weapons detection system at Satellite High School on January 28, 2025. OPENGATE® is designed for the automatic screening of people with backpacks and bags for Threat Detection. It will also identify other contraband items that are not allowed on school property.
All students and visitors will be subject to screening as they enter campus during regular school hours. If OPENGATE® detects any contraband items that are not allowed, a secondary search will be conducted. Contraband discovered during the secondary search will be confiscated and could lead to school discipline and/or legal consequences.
Students should prepare to pass through the OPENGATE® system by removing their laptops, tablets, and metal 3-ring binders from their backpacks. We recommend students come to school with plastic water bottles as metal containers may cause an OPENGATE® alert.
We recommend visitors leave unnecessary bags or purses in their cars. Only photo identification is required for visitors to enter the school.
The safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority. While using OPENGATE® may take a short time to get used to, we are confident it will not cause any significant delays and will add another layer of protection to our school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
