Fun Run and Principal for the Day
Great job Dolphins! We raised well over our goal. It was so great to see all the families come together to celebrate. Our grand total was $29,420. We are making big plans for things to do with the money. Stay tuned for updates!
*Fun Run Video coming soon!
Logan Moll and Sophia Ogoe were the top earners for the Dodson Fun Run. As top earners, they spent Wednesday as Principals for the day! They managed morning arrival, attended the council meeting, did recess supervision, wrote emails, made announcements, and even conducted some teacher evaluations. Congratulations Mr. Moll and Ms. Ogoe!
Apple Crunch
On Wednesday, nutrition services provided an apple for every student at Dodson. At 10:30, everyone in the whole school crunched their apples at the same time!
ASD Peer to Peer Fundraiser
We are so excited to share that the students at Dodson are cultivating a culture of acceptance, compassion and diversity by participating in Autism Education and a Peer to Peer Program. Dodson is proud to have four ASD classrooms and we are eager to learn more about autism and learn how to best support our ASD friends.
Next week, the ASD team and Peer Ambassadors will be selling Fall Light Up Rings. These will be special grams that students can send to friends in school. The rings will be $1 and will be attached to a card that will be addressed to your friend.
Rings will be sold during lunch on October 23rd, 24th, and 25th (Wednesday-Friday). An order form will be sent home on Monday. Please have your child bring the form to lunch when purchasing. Thank you for your support!
Trunk or Treat
One of our favorite events is Trunk or Treat and it will be happening on Thursday October 24 from 6-7. Sensory Friendly time will be from 5:30-6. There is still time to sign up for a car slot to pass out candy. If you don't want to sign up for a spot we would also greatly appreciate candy donations. Please drop off donations to the office.
If you or a teen you may know is interested in volunteering at the event please sign up with the sign up genius. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0A44A9AB2AAAFA7-52469586-dodson
Science Olympiad
We have an exciting opportunity for your child at Dodson Elementary - the Science Olympiad club. Science Olympiad is a fantastic program that builds skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Students can explore interesting subjects beyond their regular grade-level curriculum. The program also encourages parent involvement. Science Olympiad recognizes student achievement, which can incredibly motivate our young learners.
If you and your child want to join the Science Olympiad club, please fill out the form in this link. The club is open to students in 3rd through 5th grade. We will be holding an informational meeting soon for those who sign up.

P-CCS District Updates
On November 5, 2024, voters in Wayne County will decide on the renewal of the Wayne County Regional Enhancement Millage. This renewal is essential to continuing the support and progress achieved by Wayne County schools since the millage originally passed in 2016.
The millage provides critical funding for career technical education, special education, reducing class sizes, and improving school safety in Wayne County. It ensures that 100% of the funds are distributed equitably among all 33 school districts and over 90 public school academies.
If approved, the millage renewal will generate approximately $360 per student for every district and eligible public school academy in Wayne County, including P-CCS. For a homeowner with a property valued at $100,000, this millage will continue to cost around $8 per month. This is a renewal, not a new tax, so Wayne County residents can continue supporting their schools without any tax increase.
Polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm. If you are in line by 8 p.m., you have the right to vote. For more information, please click on Wayne County Regional Millage Renewal

October is Principal Appreciation Month, and P-CCS would like to recognize the fine work of our great principals. These building leaders usually come to school before everyone arrives and leave well after students and staff leave. They are charged with leading a large group of teachers and support staff, making sure that students are learning and parents are informed. This is a huge job, but our principals do it all effectively and efficiently with a smile. We encourage you to join us by thanking all of our principals this month
P-CCS is hiring! Support your local schools and community by filling one of our many open positions. The district needs teachers, paraprofessionals, security officers, food and nutrition services workers, crossing guards, and more. Full and part-time opportunities are available and can be viewed by clicking on this link: Jobs at P-CCS
