It is time to embark on our course selection process for the 2024-2025 school year. This year the process will entail counselors giving small group presentations to all students, students working with their families to choose classes and then finally meeting individually with their counselor to make any necessary adjustments. Our course selection timeline outlines when each grade level will be choosing classes. More detailed information and thorough instructions will be sent to each grade level a week before our process begins.

In the 2024-25 school year, the Accelerated Placement Act will go into effect. This act requires Illinois public school districts to automatically enroll students who meet or exceed state standards in English Language Arts (ELA), Math, or Science in the next most rigorous level of coursework in that content area the following school year. For more information please refer to the District 117 Accelerated Placement Act family letter.

There will be no Link Crew this week. Our last Link Crew meetings for the semester will be on 12/11 (training) and 12/13- & 12/14 (push into study halls). Follow us on Instagram for pictures from Linksgiving and more!

Students are not to have food delivered from commercial or private sources. Violations of privileges and responsibilities in the cafeteria/commons may result in disciplinary action. Students in financial need may be eligible for free or reduced lunch.

If a parent brings food from a restaurant, the student will need to eat the food in the main office.

In-person requests and the supporting Google Form for letters of recommendation (counselor and/or teacher) accompanying college applications with deadlines between December 22, 2023, and January 15, 2024, were due by last Friday. If those requests have not yet been made, the in-person request and completed Google Form (counselor letter of recommendation form, teacher letter of recommendation form) should be submitted ASAP!

Transcript request forms for those applications are due by 3:30 pm, Monday, December 11th. It is important to remember that counselors will be out of the office December 22nd, 3:30 pm, until Monday, January 8th, 7:30 am, and will not be responding to emails during that time.

Official transcripts are now available for the class of 2024. Seniors can request their transcripts by clicking the following link. A District 117 email is required to complete the form. This form and all other resources needed for completing college applications can be found in the "Classwork" section of the Class of 2024 College and Career Center Google Classroom.

Career Connect visits are a great opportunity for students to learn about non-college post-secondary options. Employers of all sorts will be visiting Lakes to discuss their workforce opportunities. Career Connect visits can be found on Twitter (@LCHSStudentServ), Instagram (lakescollegeandcareercenter), the daily announcements, and the Class of 2024 and 2025 College and Career Center Google Classrooms.

Happy Holidays from the Lakes Eagles Booster Club!

The Spirit Wear Store will be open on Wednesday, December 13th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for your holiday shopping! We will have our monthly Booster meeting at 7:00 pm that night and all are welcome to attend.

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers (Kim, Wendy and Nikki), the Spirit Wear Store is also open each Friday from 10:45 am to 1:30 pm. If you have not picked up your online order from October, please do so before Winter break!
