🩺 A Message from HSE’s Director of Health Services
The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) has confirmed six cases of measles in the state — all connected to one outbreak in Allen County. There are no reported cases in our county, and the overall risk to the public in Indiana remains low.
Still, we want our families to be informed. Measles is a highly contagious illness that spreads through coughs, sneezes, or even talking. The virus can linger in the air or on surfaces for up to two hours.
What to Watch For:
Symptoms usually appear 7 to 14 days after exposure and include:
- High fever
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Red eyes
- A rash that typically starts at the hairline and spreads downward
School Guidelines:
Per state health regulations, students or staff exposed to measles without proof of immunity must stay home until they can provide documentation of immunity.
Those with medical or religious exemptions must stay home for 21 days following the last known case in the school.
How to Protect Your Family:
The best protection against measles is the MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine:
- Given at 12–15 months and again at 4–6 years
- Anyone born after 1957 without vaccination records may also be eligible
Talk with your child’s healthcare provider or contact the Fishers Health Department at (317) 567-5045 to learn more.

DAY OF SERVICE 4/25/25
Hello,
My name is Dan Moosbrugger and I am an art educator at HSE. For our Day of Service, we will be providing a section for Jewelry Repair for our staff and community. Broken clasp? Broken link? Ring get bent out of shape? Send it our way!! We can handle many basic repairs (please don't send anything too precious or expensive), but if we cannot repair the item, we will let you know.
Please drop off jewelry to main office or CCA office with your name and phone number and we will reach out to you once the item has been repaired. Thank you so much for allowing our kids to build their skills!
2025 NEW BRITTON SENIOR BREAKFAST AND CLAP OUT
We are delighted to welcome back former Bulldog students to the building! We realize this is an early start time. The planning committee considered many options for this event. Due to limited parking, traffic safety and staff availability, the only time staff can connect with Seniors is before elementary students arrive for the day. To protect the safety for all, Seniors MUST arrive to NBE before our elementary student busses. Please note that if you cannot park and enter the building BEFORE 7:15 AM then you must arrive AFTER 7:40 AM when student drop off concludes. There is specialty parking for this event on the back playground. All Seniors should walk around the school and enter the Main Entrance Door #1. Please wear your cap and gown for the clap out. All students must show a current Hamilton Southeaster School's photo ID. Previous Bulldog Seniors enrolled in a different school district that wish to attend must present a driver's license/photo ID AND current student school ID at the front office. All students attending must register for the event by filling out the form below.
Questions? Please email Jill Mayer at jmayer@hse.k12.in.us *This is a student only event. Parents that attend are welcome to gather outside the building to take group photos at the sign at 7:45 AM or outside the building after the event concludes.
FISHERS HEALTH DEPARTMENT
My name is Kacy Brobst, and I am the Health Educator for the Fishers Health Department. The Fishers Health Department is hosting a free, one-week camp for Fishers-area teens (incoming 9th-12th graders) to help them learn more about Public Health/our department and all that it has to offer. We are looking for students that would possibly be interested in this career path in the future as well as those who want to participate in hands-on activities, opportunities for resume building, and networking with city leaders. Our camp will be July 14-18 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Riverside Junior High with a July 19th Saturday Showcase at the Fishers Farmers' Market from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. It would be amazing if you could share this information and the flyers (with the application QR code) around the school or in school newsletters to get the word out about the camp! There is an application involved, and it is due by May 31, but it is short. Thank you! Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thank you, Kacy Brobst
