Help shape the future of education in our province!
Education Accord NL is working toward a 10-year education transformation and wants to hear from YOU to improve educational experiences and outcomes in our province. Please take 15 - 20 minutes and share your thoughts by completing the Education Accord NL online survey at educationaccordnl.ca/survey. All responses from the survey are anonymous. We are looking for feedback from educators, educational support staff, administration, parents, caregivers, community members, and students who are 15 years of age or older. Please share the message with your school community!
Unexpected School Closures
In the event of an unexpected school closure (inclement weather, power failure, water problems, etc), we will use School Messenger to contact you via email. For this reason, it is important that families inform us of any changes in your contact numbers or email addresses. When inclement weather is expected, please listen to our local radio stations for school information, check the School Information Status Report on the NLSchools website at https://www.nlschools.ca/schools/statusreport.jsp/ or check Twitter @RoncalliSchool for the latest school updates. Decisions about school closures or delays due to weather are usually made by NLSchools by approximately 6:30 AM.
School Parking Lot
Our school parking lot is very tight now with all of our school buses on it. Given this, we are asking for your full cooperation and support in keeping our parking lot safe for all.
If you are coming to our parking lot at all, anytime during the school day, and are stopping your vehicle for any reason, pick up, drop off etc, you have to pull into a designated parking space in the center of our parking lot. There is absolutely NO parking along the sides of our lot or up front by the main entrance at any time.
We operate a kiss and ride every morning in the school parking lot from 8:25 am - 8:40 am. This is meant to be an efficient way to drop your child off to school. We ask that if you are using the kiss and ride line, that parents/guardians please stay in the vehicle at all times and allow the kiss and ride volunteers to open the door for the children. Our goal is to keep the kiss and ride line moving as quickly and safely as possible. Please have your child and all their belongings ready to exit your vehicle. The children should be seated behind the passenger front seat, if possible, for safety reasons. Once you pull up along the curb side, if your child is able to open the door and get out on their own, that is okay, many of our older students can do this.
When using the kiss and ride, please continue to pull your vehicle up as close to the vehicle in front of you as possible. This will help with the congestion on the road trying to get into the parking lot. We want to fit as many vehicles on the lot as we can at any given time.
We do understand that if it is raining parents/guardians want to stop right in front of the main door to let the children out, but we cannot do this, we have to keep the flow of traffic moving. Please note that when weather conditions are not favorable, more people do use the kiss and ride drop off.
A reminder that using a cell phone while behind the wheel of a moving vehicle is prohibited. We have observed this many times now as vehicles pass us in the parking lot, this is NOT acceptable and is very unsafe.
We strongly encourage that, if possible, vehicles enter and leave our parking lot making right hand turns. Turning left is creating a lot of traffic congestion around our crosswalk, on our parking lot and around our school grounds.
When pulling into a designated parking space on our lot, please be sure to back into the space; this allows for more visibility and safety
We have to ensure our students are safe at all times, and we appreciate your full cooperation and support in helping us do this.
Christmas Concert
Our school Christmas Concert will take place on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. This event will involve our Grade 3 and Grade 4 classes. Parents/Guardians from Grade 3 and Grade 4 will be invited to attend. More information on tickets and the number of tickets per family will come out soon.
Have a great weekend everyone,
