Another beautiful fall week here at Greenwood is complete!
We are excited for a busy and fun-filled month of October here at Greenwood! Below, you’ll find more information about our upcoming Trunk or Treat and Harvest Fest. To make this event a success, we are in need of candy donations and more decorated trunks. Your support will help make this a memorable event for our students!
We are also thrilled to share that our wonderful PTO is selling Boo Grams—a fun treat where Tootsie Pops are dressed as little ghosts! It’s a great way to surprise friends and raise money for our school.
Additionally, below is the information for our upcoming conferences on 10/23 & 10/24. We encourage all families to sign up and partner with teachers during these conferences, as they are an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate their successes, and work together for their continued growth. We are also excited for our upcoming book fair to kick off our BRAND NEW MEDIA CENTER that same week.
As we enter the season of chilly mornings and warm afternoons, our Lost and Found is FULL of sweatshirts! Please remind your student to check the Lost and Found, or feel free to stop by before or after school to see if any items belong to your child.
Please take a moment to carefully review all the details below. We look forward to seeing you at these exciting events!

Congratulations to our first Secret Lunch/Recess Student
We are excited to announce that we celebrated our very first Lunch and Recess Secret Student for showing exemplary behavior that reflects our core values of safety, respect, and responsibility. Congratulations to Madelyn in 3rd grade for being selected! Madelyn was chosen for her kindness and responsibility during both lunch and recess. As a reward, Madelyn got to come to school early to spend time with Ms. McNally and was announced during our morning broadcast. Way to go, Madelyn!
All students have the opportunity to earn the title of Secret Student by following expectations during recess and lunch.

Masked Mascot - PBIS Incentive
I’m excited to share that students can now apply to be the "masked mascot"! This opportunity is for students who demonstrate exemplary behavior reflecting our values of safety, responsibility, and respect. Those selected will dress as our mascot, with this fun event taking place monthly at the start of the school day.
To apply, students will need references from both a parent and a teacher. Applications will be available in the main office or in your child’s classroom beginning next week. Please remember that if your child applies and is not selected, I will keep their application on file for future consideration.
The selected student each month will be revealed on our broadcast, where we will also share the reasons for their selection. Attached is the application so you can see the process.
Thank you for encouraging your child to embody our core values, and I look forward to seeing who will take on this exciting role!

Safety & Security
Below is an outline of our new entry procedures for the all Lakeview buildings districtwide, which will take effect on the first day of school (August 26th). These updates are being implemented to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
New Procedures:
Entry: To maintain security, no adult can enter the main office without an appointment or scheduled event. Families must remain outside and show their IDs to the camera for the secretaries to verify via PowerSchool records.
QR Code: A QR code will be posted with information about specific situations or scenarios. When scanned, the QR code will direct you to a form, which will be reviewed promptly, and an appointment will be created if needed.
Student Early Pick-Up: If you need to pick up your student(s) early, please come to the main office and show your ID through the camera at the entrance. You’ll then wait outside for your student to be dismissed. The secretaries will document the pick-up, including the reason and time.
Dropping Off Items: If you need to drop off something for your student(s), a green cart will be available in the vestibule. This is where you can leave items like lunches, gym shoes, etc. We will provide markers and masking tape so you can label the item.
Scheduled Meetings: If you have a scheduled meeting, Mrs. Dani will confirm your appointment via our speaker system and check that it is on the schedule. Feel free to call ahead to confirm or schedule an appointment.
As we implement these new procedures, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Our priority is to keep the building safe while ensuring you have a positive experience at Greenwood. These measures are designed to minimize variables and enhance the security of our school community. Thank you for your cooperation!
Free Lunch & Breakfast
All students have access to free breakfast and lunch, every day! Breakfast will open at 7:45am in the cafeteria before school begins each day. Please have your student in line by 7:55 if they are having school breakfast. Students should enter through the 5th grade entrance on the above map for breakfast.
