Happy Holidays CMSD Family and Friends,
As we embark on the holidays and take a much-needed winter break, it is a great time to reflect on some of the events this month that underscore our commitment to our scholars and school community. I had the pleasure of once again taking part in the All-City Winter Concert at East Technical High School. Our scholars did an amazing job! Check out a video of this year’s concert below. We aspire for the Future of CMSD to be focused on ensuring that all of our scholars have access to high-quality music and the arts programs.
Also, this month, CMSD collaborated with Tri-C Community College to ensure all CMSD scholars automatically received acceptance into Tri-C! Our scholars were among the first to enroll in a seamless admission process at Tri-C during signing day ceremonies. Creating access to opportunities that guide scholars from their passions to career paths, through programs such as these, remains a priority at CMSD. During the 2-day event, hundreds of CMSD scholars were able to remove traditional barriers to higher education, such as application fees and complex forms to fill out, and they received personalized resources and support! It is our goal to build similar relationships with other colleges and universities.
CMSD also received recognition from the UniverSOUL Circus in honor of our 3-star rating on our state report card. We owe this tremendous accomplishment to our scholars, educators, parents, and friends of the CMSD community. It was exciting to see students and families with ringside seats, as our first-ever 3-star academic rating was publicly heralded under the big top! I am so proud of our CMSD community!
I close by expressing my gratitude for our CMSD community (scholars, educators, parents, community members, and partners). This is our last week of the 2nd quarter. Parents, make sure you are checking your child’s grades in the parent portal and making sure they complete all assignments to finish this quarter strong! As we prepare to take a much-needed winter break, I hope all has a blessed and rest-filled winter break.
With Gratitude,
Dr. Warren Morgan
