Message from Dr. Kaminski
As you know HSE schools has received a generous award from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. designed to enhance academic, college, career, and social and emotional needs of K-12 students. The Lilly Endowment’s aim is to significantly increase the number of students who are emotionally healthy, realize academic success, and are prepared to compete and prosper in a global society.
As part of this effort, all HSE schools are working with the American Student Achievement Institute and specifically Guiding All Kids model. This accreditation process provides all HSE schools what is considered the "Gold Star Standard" for counseling in the state of Indiana and also is among the highest respected in the United States. The BSE Guiding ALL Kids Council works monthly around the positive impacts and outcomes that we all want for our BSE Bears.
As we move into February, the Guiding All Kids process asks us to survey our students regarding their views of school counseling, access to supports, and connections to college and career readiness. Student voice is essential as we move forward in identifying strengths and opportunities in our current programs. We know that we have just begun the work, but are excited to enhance student success and ready to get started. If you have any questions or want to get involved with the council please feel free to contact me.
Thank you -
Dr. Kaminski

Science Bowl
BSE's Science Bowl team recently concluded their inaugural season. This year they learned about topics such as heat transfer, energy sources, and renewable vs. nonrenewable resources by conducting various experiments.
State results were released for last week's Science Bowl competition. BSE finished sixth in the state. Way to go Science Bowl team!
Growing Minds, Feeding Curiosity
Every year, our 6 Kindergarten classes participate in a service project that directly impacts our Fishers community. When we heard about Aggressively Organics mission, to end food scarcity, we were excited about the connection it had to the Global Goals we are targeting and direct correlation to our Kindergarten learning standards. After talking to the company and recognizing the service and learning opportunity for the kids in planting and growing the produce themselves, we couldn’t be happier with our choice! With Aggressively Organic, the Kindergarteners were able to start and continue the germination process of the vegetables, watch them sprout, then assemble the hydroponic chambers and place their sprouts inside to continue watching the growth on our indoor greenhouse before donating them to local food banks. The Kindergartners were able to learn about plants and the growth process first hand while, more importantly, experiencing the joy that giving back to our community brings!
Want to hear more? Check out page 7 in the February edition of "Think Fishers" magazine to read all about how our kindergartners partnered with Aggressively Organic to grow food for our community. Check it out here.

Hello from Miss Hamon (Art Student Teacher)
Hello Brooks School Elementary! My name is Emily Hamon (Miss Hamon) and I am a senior at Indiana State University. I am currently student teaching at BSE for 8 weeks in the art classroom. Once I complete this placement, I will start teaching at Fishers Junior High. I am from Fishers, IN and have grown up here. I went to Harrison Parkway Elementary, Riverside Intermediate/Junior High, and Fishers High School. I am in my last semester at ISU, and will be graduating this May. When I am finished with my student teaching, I would like to stay around the Fishers area and teach art either in an Elementary or Middle School. I have had a great time teaching your students so far and can't wait to become an art teacher. Thank you for welcoming me to BSE!

SafeVisitor ID Badges
Per HSE Policy, visitors must have their SafeVisitor Badge scanned to check-in to the building. Please download the SafeVisitor App (iPhone/Android) or have your badge available when you come into the school. Looking up names occasionally leads to signing in the wrong guest.
Upon leaving the school, please turn your printed badge in to the office staff for quick check-out.
