Senior Project Reminder
Attention Senior Class of 2023!
Seniors who did not submit thier project in December will need to submit thier Senior Project presentation on or before March 1st. Parents may access additional information about the senior project here. Seniors will be receiving periodic reminders of the deadline through Google Classroom. Our 2022-2023 LHS Seniors will submit a video presentation for their senior project this year.
We look forward to seeing the amazing things our seniors have been working on as a capstone to their senior year!

Standard Response Protocol and Safety Reminders
Our safety drills this Friday went really well. We wanted to take this opportunity to reshare our SRP document which contains information on each specific drill/procedure. Please keep this as a resource and familiarize yourself with the language we use in LISD. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Montague. LHS Celebrates Diversity
Need to register to vote?
We are excited to provide eligible high school students with the opportunity to register to vote under Section 13.046(a) of the Texas Election Code. We will have voter registrar applications available to students that are 18 years of age. You can pick up an application at the LHS Library or from Deborah Martinez in the AP Office.

Attendance Task Force Weekly Report
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:

VOE (Verification of Enrollment)
If your student needs a VOE for driver's permit or license, please send requests to Marisa_Davis@lovejoyisd.net and pick up at the front desk.
Student Sign-Out (Driver and Parent Pick-Up)
If your student needs to leave campus for any reason, please send sign-out requests to LHSSignout@lovejoyisd.net. Your student will get a slip and be dismissed at the specified time. Please include the student's name, time they need to be dismissed, and any details we may need. We kindly ask that the requests are submitted as far in advance as possible.
Positive Behavior Traits: CARING
This year, the counseling department will be focusing on the four principal Positive Behavior Traits from the Texas Education Agency TEKS. Please use the slides linked below to review what caring looks like in a variety of ways during high school for Lovejoy Leopards . We encourage you to connect this with your family's expectations as well!

McDonald's All- American Nominee
Lovejoy basketball player Karson Templin has been named as a McDonald's All-American nominee.
Templin who is averaging 21 points and 11 rebounds per game, is one of 32 nominees from the state of Texas.
For the third consecutive year, Texas has led all states nationally with the number of nominations. The top 24 of the country's elite players will be selected to play in a showcase game on March 28th at the Toyota Center in Houston.
Former McDonald's All-Americans include Michael Jordan, Lebron James, and Kobe Bryant.
Congratulations to Karson for being nominated to this exclusive group of players.
LHS Basketball VS. Melissa High School
The Boy's Basketball program continued its winning ways Tuesday as they took down the Melissa Cardinals.
The Varsity took home a 55-39 win and moved to 5-0 in District and 17-6 overall on the year. The Leopards are currently ranked 13th in the Maxpreps state polls and #8 in the Dallas Morning News Class 5A/Others poll.
The JV cruised to a 58-42 victory, while the Freshman took home a 54-37 win.
For the year, the Leopards are undefeated in District play at all three levels.
Lovejoy hosts Greenville High School Friday night at 7:30 pm.
