Week 3, Term 4, 2024
A message from the Senior Leadership team
Kia ora, Talofa, Malo e leleli, Kia orana, Fakalofa lahi Atu, Taloha Ni, Ni sa bula, 你 好 , Namaste, 안녕하세요, Hola, Sat Sri Akaal.
It is hard to believe we have begun our final term and are already in week 3. There are many events to note for this final term, so keep an eye on HERO to stay up to date.
Turnaround Bay
Over the holiday break, the road marking lines in our turnaround bay were redone. You will have noticed that the immediate parks in front of our mural are now designated 5-minute parks. This is so we can enjoy our new mural without cars blocking it during the day. We also have a new yellow line to define the footpath and the driveway. Please be mindful of the footpath area when using the turnaround bay for the safety of everyone using this area.
Term 4 Timetable Change
This term we have changed the timetable to break up our day into four learning blocks. We have had very positive feedback from staff and students about this change which allows for more regular breaks and nutrition. One of our breaks is called a ‘brain break’ and we are educating our students about the importance of water, proper nutrition and exercise to support learning. Lots of healthy snack foods in lunch boxes support this message also. If you have any feedback or questions about this change, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Mural Contribution
With our first mural complete, we wish to acknowledge and thank our major sponsor, Barfoot & Thompson, for their contribution to making this first mural happen. We have big plans for our school site to bring our local curriculum to life visually, so having this first one completed is very exciting. We appreciate the ongoing support of Louise and the Barfoot & Thompson team.
Class Placements
Term 4 is a busy one as we look to wrap up the year and, at the same time, look ahead to 2025 and class placements for our learners. There are many layers to this decision-making and we appreciate those who have shared their thoughts. This information will be taken into account as we begin this process. As we begin to confirm teaching teams, the placement of students is a high priority, taking into account academic, social and emotional needs.
Activity Fee
Like most schools, we offer many learning experiences to enhance the curriculum. Most of these extra learning experiences that involve leaving the school site have a cost. The Board of Trustees has set an annual activity fee for each student to help us provide experiences above and beyond the basics in the classroom and support us in achieving our vision, ‘Adventurous Learning’. You will find this activity fee in your child’s HERO account. This activity fee helps us to continue providing the variety of experiences that make being in our kura a special place to learn. We thank you for your support.
2025 Term dates

Thank you for your continuing support. Our Grandparent/Special Person Day earlier this week was an outstanding success and it was heartwarming to see the turnout of grandparents and the joy that this brought to our students.
