Dear Decatur Virtual Family,

Your students should be well into their classes at this point. Please check their progress and talk with them about their classwork. It is that time of year when students need to try to work ahead to set themselves up for a successful semester. Please encourage your students to get all their work for next week and the week of CSD Fall break so they may also have a break. Mark your calendars for the upcoming dates:

September Meet Up September 20th, 10:00 am Ebster Recreation Center
PSAT Practice October 2nd, 10:00 am please check your email for directions
Beacon Hill Middle Makeup Picture Day is October 8th, please be there 8:00 am
Decatur High School Picture Day is October 9th, please watch out for directions
PSAT October 11th, please check your email for directions

September Meet-Up: Connect with School Staff

Please come and chat with some select staff from Beacon Hill Middle School and Decatur High School, including our Athletic Director and several teachers and leaders. Learn about CSD Athletics, Young Ladies of Excellence, or just visit with a special teacher. Let Ms. Whatley know if there is someone specific you would like to visit with and we can invite them too. We look forward to seeing you there!

Are you taking an AP class? Plan for the AP test now!

If you are taking an AP Class that is offered at DHS, follow the instructions from your GAVS teacher for signing up and registering for the exam. The AP Coordinator at DHS is Ms. Karina Green, kgreen@csdecatur.net.

If you are taking an AP class that is not offered at DHS, then you will need to follow these instructions to find a testing location for your AP test (You can start by checking with Druid Hills High School). Fees are determined by each individual testing location. These courses include:

September 12: Last date to register for fall

September 12: End of CSD Add/Drop period

September 16: Last date to begin fall courses

September 23-27: Classes are in session (CSD Fall Break is not a break for GAVS)

September 23, 24, 25: Students must check-in
October 11 and 14: GAVS Fall Student Holidays: students must check-in
November 25-29: Thanksgiving Holidays
November 30-December 6: Final Exams Week

December 13-14: STAR Reading and Math

December 9-10: Milestones Winter EOC Testing

December 10: Pearson Classes end
December 12: Final Grades Released

A Season of Giving is a neighbor-led organization that brings joy to local children and seniors through gift-giving.

For Assistance: To apply for gift assistance, please complete our online application at Apply by October 31st. We are excited to support children through 12th grade again this year.

Sponsor a Gift: Donors can purchase gifts based on individual wish lists for children or seniors. If you would like to be a sponsor, please fill out the form at Sponsor.

Donate Directly: If you prefer, you can make a donation, and we will do the shopping for you. Simply Donate at our website!

Volunteer: We would greatly appreciate your help! If you're interested in volunteering, please go to Volunteer and sign up.
