A message from the principal
Greetings, Dayton Families,
At Dayton Elementary School, we value creating rich learning experiences for our students and building strong relationships with every student and family. We are honored to be your partner in this pursuit. We have a strong team of educators and robust resources to help all students grow academically, socially and emotionally. Below are some helpful school and community resources.
Character Strong: For years, our Dayton team has identified character traits that support our students’ social and emotional growth. Character Strong is a program that helps us engage in this work even more purposefully. Each month, our whole school will learn about a character trait. This month our focus is respect. Respect is “seeing value in all people and things and treating them with care.” Family resources, including conversation starters, family pursuits and more can be found here:
Kindergarten Family Connection
Every Meal: We are excited to partner with the nonprofit organization, Every Meal, to offer a free weekend food program to all our students. The mission of Every Meal is to fight child hunger through community and school partnerships. This program strives to make a difference in children’s lives by focusing on food gaps like weekends, school breaks and summer, when students are not receiving meals in school. If you are interested in learning more, click here. If you’d like to register for this program, please use this Electronic enrollment form.
School Counselor, Michele Lange: Michele can provide individual, small group and classroom guidance to help students attain optimum level of personal, social, and academic success. School Counselors also serve as a resource for families seeking additional support or resources in the school community. Michele Lange can be reached by email: michele.lange@ahschools.us or by phone 763-506-2266.
Parent Educator, Elizabeth Korzenowski, is joining our Dayton Elementary team as a Pre-K to Grade 3 parenting educator. Elizabeth is able to provide free parenting support, home visits/family meetings, resources, and other support for families. More info can be found here: https://www.ahschools.us/prektograde3 or by contacting Elizabeth by email: elizabeth.korzenowski@ahschools.us
Community Resource: CROSS Services: A nearby nonprofit social services organization that assists individuals and families in need. More information can be found here.
Community Resource: Northwest Family Resource Collaborative: The Family Advocate Services include resources and referrals for food/clothing/household needs, as well as other family support services. This service is free for families. For more information call 763-585-7378, or click here for more information.
We hope to see you at the Parent Teacher Organization Welcome Back Night on Thursday, September 19th from 5-7pm. More information from our PTO about this event can be found in this e-newsletter.
Happy 2024-25 school year!

Parent Education and Family Engagement
Hello! My name is Elizabeth Korzenowski, and I'm your new PreK - Grade 3 parent educator. I can't wait to get started in this role and get to know everyone!
Parent Educator isn’t the perfect way to describe my role – I'm not here because people are parenting their children "wrong." I'm here to support parents throughout their journey. Think of me as your parenting partner, someone to talk to about the challenges and joys of parenting, to reach out with questions, or to see if I have resources available (i.e. routine charts, sleep strategies, etc). Parenting is one of the hardest jobs out there, but you don’t have to do it completely alone!
I'm coming into this role with experience as a foster parent, home visitor, and parent educator in a different district. These different roles give me a well-rounded perspective when it comes to supporting parents and families, but also supporting teachers and school staff.
To get in touch with me, please feel free to call or text me at 612-520-1710, or email me at elizabeth.korzenowski@ahschools.us. I look forward to connecting with you, and getting to know your family!

Welcome Back Night:
Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 19th. We will be hosting a welcome back night from 5:00 - 7:00. We’ll have food for purchase from Acapulco Mexican Restaurant and dessert from Cookie Agenda. Be on the lookout for the flyer in your student backpack with more details.
No Fuss Fundraiser:
Fundraising isn’t your jam?!
Let’s face it, sometimes fundraising isn’t fun but our school greatly benefits from the vital funds we raise! If you, your extended family, or your colleagues would rather just write a check than deal with the fuss of selling or buying something you just don’t need, the No Fuss Fundraiser is for you. Bonus, it’s the only fundraiser where 100% of your donation stays with Dayton Elementary!
Watch backpacks for flyers or donate online at anytime: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/1603389e-5e42-4f13-8f0b-a8b39aba86d1 (please share this link with supporters too!)
No matter which way you choose to do it, thank you for supporting Dayton Elementary.
PTO Meeting:
Please join us for our upcoming PTO meeting on Monday, September 9th at 6:00 -7:15 pm in the library at school. Did you know that we offer free childcare for school age children?
"Be Delighted, Be Inspired, Be a Dayton Eagle Volunteer!"
