Battle of the Books

More than 40 third-graders are readers in Battle of the Books and have each read at least eight (8) books since the beginning of the school year. The final event is here to challenge them on their reading comprehension. Their last meeting is this Monday, March 18.

Washington holds its 3rd grade Battle of the Books competition on Wednesday, March 20. Check out how you can volunteer or donate items (Sign-up Genius).

Dine Out at Johnny Rockets this Week!

Dine out at Johnny Rockets on Rosecrans any day this week March 18-24 between 11 AM - 9 PM.

Be sure to mention Washington Elementary and 20% of profits will be donated to PTA. Thank you for your support!

MADE Marketplace

The MADE by Explorers Marketplace is back! Please join us on Wednesday, March 27 from 1:35 PM - 3:30 PM in the back parking lot to visit and shop 40+ vendors selling arts & crafts and homemade treats. Cash only: all items are $5 and under. Some vendors will be donating profits to a charity of their choice. Come support our Explorers!

Volunteers: Dorian Spring Pictures

Some students opt to take a “studio” photo with Dorian on Friday, March 22. We are looking for a few parent volunteers to help in the studio during the morning hours before noon. Volunteers earn a complimentary photo package. Check out the sign-up for an open time slot.

Volunteers: STEAM Night (April 19)

The STEAM Night committee is looking for key volunteers to make the program run smoothly. The committee has booked many exhibitors for a fun expo-style to highlight Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math!

Volunteers: Earth Day Fair (April 26) - Craft Table

Our Earth Day Fair is coming up on Friday, April 26! We are looking for someone to oversee our up-cycle craft table!

In past years, crafts have included planting tomato seeds in cardboard egg cartons, making flower seed bombs, and reusing cardboard toilet paper rolls to make bird feeders. Any of these crafts can be repeated, or we can try something new. We can also ask our school community to donate items, such as egg cartons, as needed. If you (and/or a group) can think of an environmentally-minded craft and demonstrate/lead the craft at the Fair, please contact web@explorerspta.org
