CREST Award Recipients
Congratulations to the WFMS Counseling Team of 2023 - 2024 for being one of an elite group of schools from across the state to win the CREST Award for Counseling Excellence for 2024-2025. This is the third consecutive CREST award for the WFMS Counseling team.
What is CREST?
In 2005, Texas School Counselor Association began a program called CREST to recognize schools with outstanding counseling programs. Schools receiving CREST awards have demonstrated a commitment using the Texas Model to improve the lives and achievement of students in academic, career, and personal social domains.
CREST is a continuous improvement document that gives a school counseling program an opportunity to demonstrate effective communication and a commitment to obtaining results. CREST helps counselors to evaluate their counseling programs, promote their programs to the stakeholders in their districts, demonstrate the effectiveness of their guidance and counseling programs through empirical means, and to implement the Texas and National models for school counseling programs.
CREST looks at the counseling program in five categories:
Introduction to the School and the Role of the Professional School Counselor
Program Implementation Cycle
Foundational Components
Four Service Delivery Components
Program Curriculum
The counseling team prepares a digital submission that highlights these areas and communicates just what the counseling program is doing to help students succeed. These CREST applications are sent to reviewers throughout the state of Texas to be judged according to pre-set standards of excellence.
2025-26 Course Selection
For the 2025-26 school year, students have selected what classes they would like to take next year. Parents will have the opportunity to verify in Skyward later this spring semester.
7 Mindsets is a proven social emotional learning and self-determination program that changes the way students think, interact and live.
100% Accountable
The 100% Accountable Mindset teaches that we are in control of our own story and outcomes. It helps students understand that their success in school and life depends on the choices they make and the actions they take every day. With this mindset, students learn to improve their skills, tackle challenges with a problem-solving attitude, and take responsibility for achieving their goals. Research indicates that students who believe their abilities can improve through effort are more resilient and achieve higher academically.
Healthy Relationships Week February 17-21, 2025
Each February, young adults and their loved ones across the nation raise awareness about the issue of teen dating violence through Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). This annual, month-long effort focuses on advocacy and education to stop dating abuse before it starts.
Would you like to request for your child to visit with the counselor for individual counseling support?
All students have access to the counselor through whole group guidance. In addition to guidance lessons, some students visit with the counselor in small group counseling sessions. Individual students may self-refer to the counselor using the link in Canvas.
Parents and teachers may also click on the links below to recommend students for individual counseling.
