Falcon Update: Issue 16
Hello Fitz Families,
February is here, which means we're celebrating Black History Month. This year's theme is "African Americans and Labor," honoring the contributions of African American individuals in shaping our workforce and industries. Throughout the month, we’ll be spotlighting key figures who have made a lasting impact.
Also, don’t forget—this Friday is our Falcon Family Picnic! This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and share a meal with your Falcon here at Fitz. We are closely monitoring the weather, and current forecasts predict light rain in the early morning, clearing up by the time of the picnic. The event will take place in the West Quad, with as much coverage as possible under the building roofs. However, we encourage families to bring a canopy, umbrellas, and rain gear to stay dry and comfortable.
To attend, you must RSVP by Wednesday, February 5th. Secure your spot using the link below:

We look forward to celebrating with you!

Spotlight on A. Phillip Randolph
In 1925, A. Philip Randolph established The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters (BSCP), the first nationally recognized Black labor union in the United States.
Under Randolph's leadership, the BSCP expanded its mission to advocate for broader social and economic justice, paving the way for the modern Civil Rights Movement. Randolph went on to organize the famous March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963.
High School Visits
On January 31, our 8th graders had the exciting opportunity to visit their prospective high schools for next year, including Los Amigos, La Quinta, Santiago, Garden Grove, Pacifica, Bolsa Grande, and Rancho Alamitos. During their visits, students explored the campuses, walked the halls, and experienced the school communities firsthand. They had the chance to learn about the various clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities available, helping them get a glimpse of the opportunities that await them in high school. To make the experience even more memorable, students came away with school shirts and memorabilia, building excitement for the next chapter of their educational journey.
