A Message From The Director
Embracing Fall with Focus, Pictures, and Tests
Dear NWI Families,
It's amazing to think that next Sunday, we welcome the month of September. The season of fall brings cooler weather, colorful leaves, and the perfect opportunity to refocus as we settle into the school year. As we dive into new lessons and challenges, remember to stay engaged, ask for help when needed, and make the most of your virtual learning experience. Whether you're just starting or continuing your journey with us, we’re excited to support you every step of the way!l
Our first onsite testing day will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. In addition, students enrolled in Northwest Indiana Online School will have the opportunity to get their school pictures taken on the same day. Keep reading this newsletter for the schedule and details on how to order pictures.
In addition to school pictures, it's also important to stay on track with navigating the Edmentum program. Here are a few key reminders to help:
- Students in Grades K-5 have access to Live Lessons from Monday through Thursday.
Watch this video to learn more about the K-5 Live Lessons.
- As students transition into middle and high school, those in Grades 6-12 have access to Synchronous Overview Sessions (SOS), also held from Monday through Thursday.
Watch this video to learn more about the 6 -12 SOS Lessons
What is a Synchronous Overview Session? An SOS is a Zoom session with a teacher that provides an overview of a lesson. During the session, the teacher will cover what you can expect to learn in a specific unit. Be sure to select the correct subject and unit to join the appropriate Zoom session.
- Students in Grade 6 - 12 can also request one-on-one help from a teacher by completing the form found in each subject area: 6-12 Live Help Schedule
- All students, Grades K -12, can find additional resources at the K-12 Student Resource Google Site.
The Duneland School Corporation (DSC) team is here to support you with your schoolwork, help you navigate Edmentum, and provide social and emotional support. If you need assistance with your classes, feel free to email email to Coach Sara or Coach Gabby. Remember, completing work virtually doesn't mean you lose access to resources—our Mental Health Counselor, Mr. Adams, is also available to assist you, too.
Thank you for choosing Northwest Indiana Online School for your child(ren).
