The 'Supe Scoop
We are so proud to share the latest episode of Dr. Finch's podcast which was recorded at West Wing School! Featured in this edition is our very own Ms. Trefzger, kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Eller, 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Riccitelli, our reading specialist, and Mrs. Louis, our district reading specialist! Hear from a few of our amazing students about the importance of learning how to ready at West Wing!
West Wing is fortunate to have highly skilled reading teachers at all grade levels who work together to make reading fun and engaging for our students!
Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) Schedule
Dear West Wing Parents,
We had a great first week of state testing! Our fifth and eighth graders completed the science portion of the state test. This week will be our writing. We ask that on the day of their test that students bring a packed lunch. If this is not possible then they may still buy a lunch.
Please ensure that your child has a good night of rest and eats breakfast each morning or that they visit the cafeteria for their breakfast. Breakfast begins at 8:15.
Please encourage your child to do their best and take their time on their assessments.
If you know that your child will be absent on a day of their scheduled test we ask that you alert their teacher right away so that we can plan accordingly for a make-up session.
Please do not schedule any early pick-ups when your child is testing. It is best to keep them home if there is an unavoidable appointment. If they are absent we will schedule a make-up session.
The AASA assessment is for all 3rd through 8th graders. Students will complete tests in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics as part of this assessment. We will begin these sections the week of April 1st and complete any final make-up tests the week of April 22nd. Students in 3rd grade will also complete an Oral Reading Fluency portion of the assessment.
Please refer to the testing calendar below for specific grade-level dates.
Thank you for your support of your child's academic growth this year!
Mrs. Schubert
Principal
