Week 25
It was so nice to have students back in the building yesterday after such a long break. I saw students excited to see other students and their teachers and teachers excited to see students. When the building is full of kids it feels just right!
Next week a few students from student council will attend the Vermont Association for Middle Level Education (VAMLE) student conference. This conference is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn from students and practice being "thinkers, inquirers, reflective and open-minded which are important attributes in our learner profile.
On Friday March 21st our Sixth grade students will be attending a citizen summit at Middlebury College. We are becoming very excited about the day as we continue to prioritize ways to develop globally minded citizens. More information is to come for caregivers of sixth graders midweek next week.
Lastly, we are excited to invite Assistant Principal candidates to our District early next week for first round interviews. We hope to have finalists attend second round interviews late next week with a focus on learning about our school more deeply and offering staff and students a chance to meet the candidates and give feedback. We will update you about the process along the way as we are able.
Thank you for your continued partnership and have a great weekend.
Best,
Michaela

VTCAP - Vermont Comprehensive Assessment Program
All Vermont School Districts are required to administer the Vermont Comprehensive Assessment Program (VTCAP). This computer-based test is adaptive and will assess our state standards for English Language Arts (ELA), math, and science. ACSD schools will administer these assessments this year between March 10 and April 25. These assessments include:
VTCAP Language Arts and Mathematics: Grades 3-9
VTCAP Science Assessment: Grades 5, 8, and 11
You should receive a letter in the mail in the coming days regarding the details of how we plan to administer the test at MUMS.

We’re raising pay for substitutes! Apply now!
Substitute teachers are crucial for our students, staff, staff, and schools! We are increasing our daily substitute teaching rate to $160/day for unlicensed subs and $200/day for licensed subs. This change begins on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 when students return from winter break. This flat rate replaces our sliding rate of pay for subs depending on the number of days worked.
To apply, you can email your interest to HR@acsdvt.org with "Substitute Position" in the subject line. You can also visit this listing on school spring.
Student Attendance (absences/dismissals) and Bus Notes
- To report your child absent from school or notify us of an early dismissal please leave us a message on our attendance line by calling 382-1297 before 8:30 AM.
- If you send a student to school with an early dismissal note or bus note they should bring them the office before TA.
- All students taking a bus to another place other than home need a bus note from their caregiver. This note needs to be stamped/signed by one of our Administrative Assistant's in the front office. Students will not be allowed to ride a bus to another location without a note from home that is stamped/signed by the office.
