October Character Trait of the month is Joy
Students at CCA are focusing on Joy in the month of October. The theme verse for this month is Psalms 5:11, “But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in you.” We surveyed three students to find out what joy means to them? Caroline in 5th grade answered, “Joy is like happiness!” Kalynn in 8th grade said joy means “being happy” and lastly Parker in 9th grade said, “When you're around other people, how you act and being joyful and uplifting to others is joy.” --Allie
Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Jones
This month's teacher spotlight is Sarah Jones. Sarah has taught 5th grade at CCA for the past 2 years and coaches 5th and 6th grade volleyball. Sarah was born in Houston, Texas. She grew up playing volleyball in high school and enjoyed watching football and basketball. She attended college at Florida College in Tampa, Fl. Sarah has been married to her husband Justin for 15 years. They have three children Mackenzie (13) Caroline (10), and William (7). She has one cat Lily, one dog Teddy, and chickens. Sarah enjoys reading and working out in her free time.
Her favorite Bible verse is Galatians 2:20, which says, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now lie in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Sarah looks up to her father-in-law Paul Jones. Paul does so much for others around him and is always humble. He is an amazing Christian and servant for Christ. --Maggie
Fire Department Delivers Fire Safety Program at CCA
Captain Reno from the Henry County Fire Department visited CCA on Wednesday, October 9th, to speak to students about fire safety and how to correctly prepare for a fire emergency. Students were told about smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, what they do and how they help save lives. Captain Reno explained how the batteries in smoke alarms need to be changed every 6 months, an easy way to remember is when the clocks are moved forward or backward, you should change your smoke detector batteries.
The fire department prepared a skit that showed what to do if the smoke detector goes off in your house while you are sleeping. If this happens, roll off the bed, crawl to the door, feel the door with the back of your hand to see if it is hot, if it is, stay in your bedroom and go to the window. If you are on the main floor of your house and you can safely climb out, then get out, but if you can’t, wave a blanket out the window and wait for the fire department to come help.
Some items that could cause an unexpected fire are: leaving your phone charger under a pillow, putting clothes on top of extension cords, and leaving your towel on a heater. Another helpful hint was to make sure your room is always clean, so if there is an emergency you can get out without stepping or tripping on things on your floor.
Parents are encouraged to talk about fire safety with students and to have a safe meeting place if a fire were to occur at your residence. Thank you Clinton Fire Department! --Carissa

Class Spotlight: HS Personal Finance
Kynlee observed personal finance this week to see what they are learning the second month of the school year. When she arrived at their classroom students were starting a video about the “Foundations on Personal Finance.” While watching students were to fill out their workbooks. After the video they took notes and discussed what they learned. In their discussion, students went over ways to make money: sell belongings, start a small business, mow lawns, shovel snow, rake leaves, get a job, tutor or teach something. Then they talked about what happens when an unexpected financial emergency occurs and if what has to be purchased is necessary, or urgent. Lastly, students filled out a journal about how they felt about the lesson. -Kynlee

According to Verify, both candy corn and candy pumpkins are made with sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, gelatin, and artificial flavors; however, candy pumpkins also contain honey. --Sophia
Chapel
Chapel on Friday was opened with worship by the Praise Band. Pledges and prayer was given by students from 9th grade. Mr. Campos, a CCA teacher, spoke to 4-12 grade about not neglecting their faith. He used food in the refrigerator as an example. When food is left for too long, shelf life, or mold will start to grow and it goes bad. This happens when we neglect the food or simply forget about it. He used Scripture verses, 1 Timothy 1:3-7, to talk about how Paul was talking to Timothy. He was reminding Timothy that he needs to stop neglecting his faith. Paul was saying that Timothy was neglecting his faith and his fire inside was diminishing. But why was this happening? Maybe his congregation was making it hard for him, maybe he wasn’t getting nurtured correctly, maybe he was scared. Paul told Timothy to keep going and that Paul is praying for him and he longs to be with him again. He also used verse 6 to tell him that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love. Paul told Timothy that God has a plan and a purpose so he needs to trust Him and return to the faith God gave him. God has a purpose for us from the beginning of our lives and we should always look to Him to guide and direct us. Always remember to let His light shine in our lives. --Carissa

Senior Fundraising
Our 2025 CCA Seniors are raising money for their senior trip which is partly a mission trip and partly a fun trip. They will be going to southeast Georgia to work in a food pantry, and Christian camp for foster children.
This year, our seniors also have an opportunity to go on CCA's very first out of country mission trip to Belize. Money raised will first go towards the Senior trip to Georgia/Florida but we have hope that if enough money is raised it will cover some of the cost to their Belize trip.
Orders have been placed for the Laundry Soap fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who supported our seniors by purchasing.
CCA Seniors also sell homemade cookies every Thursday morning! Students love this! Just $1
The CCA Seniors will have a Yard Sale in November. Mrs. Hyke will send out more information later but please fill free to save and donate your yard sale items to them to sell!
Thank you so so much for all the love, prayers and support!

- 10/18 Junior High School FCA at 8:30am
- 10/21 FCA Huddle for CCA/CHS/Homeschool 9th-12th graders at Coach Adam's home; 8-9PM
On October 7th, Jeff Adams, FCA sponsor, hosted an FCA evening "huddle" meeting for all CCA, CHS, and Homeschool high school students at his home. The meeting was well attended. The topic of conversation was how to be an encouraging teammate, and how it's important to lift each other up. Colossians 3:12 says, "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." This verse tells us what attributes we need to have to live out our Christian walk with Christ through playing sports. The meeting ended with homemade cookies and fellowship. --Brooklyn

In the Community
Last Thursday night people in Henry County and the surrounding areas could see the Northern Lights. Did you know we are in the Solar Maximum time period? This is the period of peak activity in the sun's 11 year cycle according to Subby's Weather Talk. During this time, the sun experiences an increase in solar flares, sunspots, and solar radiation output. This space weather began in April 2024 and another solar cycle is expected to occur next July. Here's are some of CCA's photos of Thursday night's Northern Lights.
