A Note From the Principal
Hello River Hawk Families,
It is time to say goodbye to our 8th grade River Hawks and their families! This class will always be a treasure to me, because 2024 is the class that was with me my first two years as principal at Rio Norte, and what an honor and privilege to watch your children grow! There is so much more ahead for each of them and in my good-bye on RioTV, I reminded them to continue to SOAR, try new things, work hard, get involved, and have fun in high school!
To our 7th grade families, we look forward to continuing our work with you and your student. 8th grade is sure to bring new challenges, wonderful accomplishments, and incredible growth as we prepare them for high school!
We hope everyone has a fantastic summer!

Turning In Outstanding Textbooks
Textbook collection has come and gone!
If your student still owes textbooks, library books, or outstanding fees to our Rio Norte Library, you WILL have trouble registering in the Fall for both 8th and 9th grade! All debts must be cleared before students can begin the summer check-in process or receive their new textbook materials. This is for continuing Rio Norte students AND students going to high school. Your high school will have the flag that your textbooks have not been returned.
Our Rio Norte library is still taking returns on the dates listed below during our summer break. To see what your student still owes us, if anything, please visit bit.ly/destinyRN and log-in using your student's hartdistrict Google account.
May 31st: 9am - 12pm
June 3rd & 4th: 9am - 12pm
June 10th & 12th: 9am - 3pm
July 29th: 30th - 9am - 3pm
August 1st & 2nd - 9am - 3pm
Lost and Found to be DONATED JUNE 5th!
Students left lots of items behind. Please see updated pictures below. Any unclaimed items will be donated on June 5th. Parents please call the office prior to June 5th to arrange a time if you'd like to look through our lost and found or see something pictured that belongs to your child.
Mario Kart Tournament
Over the course of 4 weeks, 12 teams competed in a Mario Kart Deluxe double elimination tournament. Students competed in teams of 2 with first place finishers receiving 2 pts. and 2nd place finishers receiving 1 pt. After 3 races the team with the most points advanced to the next round. The final came down to "Kario Marts" and "Potato Guys," and in the end "Potato Guys" emerged as the victors of our first ever E-Sports Tournament. Congratulations! We look forward to seeing this event grow next year.
8th Grade Block Party Recap
Our ASB and ASB Director, Mrs. Welch, put on an incredible final Rio Norte party for our 8th Graders! Students were treated to The Habit for dinner, a fun photo booth, a snow cone machine, and inflatable games. Everyone that attended seemed to have a really great evening. Enjoy the pictures!
