Weekly Update Sept. 30 to October 4
Dear Families,
Family Conferences are right around the corner. Teacher should be sending out more information in the next week or so regarding how to sign up. Conferences will be held over four evenings in October. They will be held on October 9th, 10th, 15th and 16th, from 3:30 - 7:00 pm. Our goal is to meet with all families during this time. If you would like me to attend your child's conference, please don't hesitate to reach out to myself or Mrs. Mueller as I would be happy to be there. We look forward to seeing you there! As a result of Family Conferences, there will not be school on October 11th, 17th or 18th.
Each year Truscott holds a Title I Annual Meeting. This occurred during our SAC meeting last week and will also occur at Café con Leche on October 2, 2024, from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Also during this Café con Leche, Dr. Schaffer, our superintendent, along with members of our school board will be in attendance. If you are unable to attend and would like to join virtually, please use this link. Also, if you would like to view the Annual Meeting Video, please watch the English or Spanish versions here.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Have a nice weekend,

September 15th-October 15th is National Hispanic Heritage Month!
Each year, Americans nationally celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America from September 15 to October 15. September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18. Loveland’s heritage month is known as Latiné Heritage Month. Join us for the Loveland Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 14!

College and Career Week
College and Career Week
September 30 - October 4, 2024
We are excited for our College and Career Week! We have many activities to help students begin to explore different careers and different ways to get training for careers. My hope is that students will begin thinking about their own career journey and start learning about things they are interested in. Here are some of the activities we have planned:
Monday - teachers will share their own career journey with students with their career boards. We will also have posters around the school that show the different colleges, training centers, and programs that our staff have participated in to get to where they are now in their career journey. They will be sharing these all week.
Tuesday - 4th and 5th graders will go to the Thompson Career Campus and learn about programs that will be available to them in high school.
Wednesday Afternoon - Career Prep Programs - there will be several colleges, apprenticeship programs, training programs and pathways to different careers.
Thursday Morning - There will be several family members and community members sharing their careers with students.
All Week - Mrs. P will be doing some career exploration activities with students. They will also be doing some work on Xello - a career exploration program on the computer that helps students to identify interests and possible careers based on those interests. Teachers will also be doing some career exploration activities in classrooms.
Please take some time to talk with your child about career interests, possible steps in their journey as well as your own. These conversations are so important in helping children begin thinking about their own paths.
Note: Members of the S.W.A.T. Team will be out front on Thursday morning. They will be here as part of our career day.
You are welcome to join us for any of these activities this week!

TEEC
Are you an adult family, staff, or student member of the TSD Community who is interested in learning about how TSD addresses equity, diversity, and inclusion? If so, sign-up to join the TSD Educational Equity Council (TEEC)! We will host quarterly meetings this school year to increase knowledge of the equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) work throughout TSD.
We are seeking broad and diverse community participation to help us move our work forward in alignment with the TSD Strategic Plan and TSD Board Policies related to Educational Equity (Policy ADB), Equal Educational Opportunities (Policy JB), and Non-Discrimination/Equal Opportunity (Policy AC).
The first meeting of the Thompson Educational Equity Council (TEEC) will be held on October 24, 4:30-5:30 p.m. If you or your TSD student are interested in attending, please complete the sign-up form. We will have pizza!

Please don't schedule any appointments on October 1st
October 1st is picture day, October count, hearing and vision testing day. Please refrain from making dentist, orthodontist, or well checks on this day as it is going to be a busy day here at school.
