Dear Families of Students with IEPs,

I want to share with you information about an upcoming opportunity for you to give feedback on the special education services provided to your child and how we partner with you.

Our school district is required to complete the Indicator 8 Family Engagement Survey beginning in late January/early February 2025. All families who have a child with an IEP will be invited to take the family engagement survey. The survey is sent to every parent or legal guardian in our district whose child is receiving special education services ages 3 through 17. Students 18 and over, and their parents, will not be surveyed.

This confidential survey has 22 questions. There’s a Preschool survey for families with a preschool-aged child and a School-Age survey for families with children 5 to 17. Families will be invited to complete the survey online but if you prefer a paper survey, you may request one.

Your participation is very important!! When the survey window opens in late January/early February, you will receive a letter inviting you to take the survey. We want to see as many families as possible participate in the survey. We hope you’ll share your experience and perspective by completing the Family Engagement Survey. We will use the information collected in this survey to improve how we partner with families to provide services to their children.

As part of a new state law, students in grades 4K-3rd grade will participate in a statewide reading screener known as Aimsweb+ several times a year. Ongoing assessment is already an established practice at Erin, and the results from the new assessment will continue to help us support literacy growth for each child.

The first screening window will occur this winter, with most assessments to be completed in January. Parents will get a copy of the results, and any follow up plans if needed, by mid-February.

The PTC needs your help. The events and activities run by the PTC take a lot of time and effort. We are looking for some parents to help with components of some of those events and activities.

We are specifically looking for help with planning and running parts of Fun Fair, running a Family Movie Night, and running this year's Scoop-A-Thon.

The Erin School Ski Club at Little Switzerland is back for the 2024-2025 ski and snowboard season! Ski Club offers a discounted price on lift tickets and/or ski/snowboard equipment rental for 4 specified nights. Everyone is welcome including students, parents, older siblings, etc. Plus, beginner lessons are FREE to those 7 years old and older!
