Perry Public Library
December 2024
Is midnight past your bedtime? Ours too!
Come ring in the New Year at NOON with us on December 31st.
Put on your fanciest party clothes because we are having an exclusive Noon Year's Eve Party for patrons under 11 years old and their caregivers! Come craft, dance, play games, and most importantly, count down to the New Year!
The party starts at 10:30 am and will end at 12:01pm.
It is reservation only, and once it is full, a waiting list will be started.
Sign up today so you don't miss out on the fun!
The library will be closed to the general public until 1 pm that day so we have plenty of room to party!
Interested teens will have opportunities to volunteer at the event. Contact Miss Jes at jpurvis@owwl.org to learn more.

Let's Talk About Books
Remember turning the page when you heard the chime as a child?
Well thanks to a grant we applied for and received, your children will soon also know that joy!
VOX books are coming to Perry Public Library!
VOX books are books that have preloaded audio recordings installed on the book. Through funds from The Inclusive Collections Aid funded through the OWWL Library Systemβs categorical aid for the Coordinated Outreach Services Program, we now have over 15 beginner chapter books with built in read-aloud features available to loan. The Coordinated Outreach Services Program through New York State Education Law, Β§273 (1)(h)(1), and Commissioner's Regulations Β§90.3, allows Public Library Systems to provide Coordinated Outreach Library Services directly and through their member libraries to New Yorkers who are most in need and who often are not regular library users.

Viral Book Trend Coming to Perry Public Library in 2025
Crochet Granny Square Book Blankets!
Have you seen the latest book trend? Well we have and now we are starting a book club so you can participate too! We are calling it Hooked on Covers and it is going to start in January 2025.
This is how it will work:
- Each month we will choose a new book to read and yarn colors that coordinate with the book's cover.
- When you check out the book, you can get a small bag full of yarn to crochet a cover matching Granny Square. Instructions on how to crochet a basic Granny Square will also be included.
- Four times a year, we will meet at the Library to discuss the books read, upcoming reads, show off our squares, and/or get help crocheting a Granny Square.
- At the end of the year, you will have (at least) 12 crochet squares you can put together into a blanket showcasing your reading and crocheting accomplishments for the year.
- No obligation to crochet or attend book discussions.
- Crochet hooks will be available to borrow from the Perry Public Library.
- Books will vary in genre, including Young Adult, Adult Fiction, and Nonfiction.
- Recommended ages will be for readers ages 15 and up.
