Counseling Interns 2024-25
Bri Zermeno
Hi my name is Bri Zermeno and I am one of the incoming counseling interns from USD. I am a San Diego native and did my undergrad at CSUSM. A fun fact about me is I did competitive dance for 4 years!
Emily Fulton
Hello everyone! My name is Emily, and I’m excited to join as one of the new counseling interns from the University of San Diego. I recently moved to San Diego from New Jersey. I completed my undergrad and first graduate degree at William Paterson University. A fun fact about me is that before diving into counseling, I spent two years as a middle school art teacher. This fueled my passion for creativity and student advocacy! I’m eager to bring these experiences into my counseling journey at Westview.

Test Prep
Should I take the SAT or ACT?
The SAT and ACT are both college entrance exams. More students (1.9 million in the class of 2023) take the SAT than any other admissions exam. You may think the SAT and ACT are basically the same, and that colleges in some states prefer the ACT while others favor the SAT. This is a common misconception. Most colleges in the U.S.—even if they’re test optional—accept scores from either exam for admissions decisions, course placement, financial aid, and other purposes. However, there are significant differences between the two that make the SAT better. Click HERE for a comparison chart.

College Visits (Tips and Advice)
Why Westview’s SCOIR Platform is an Excellent Resource for Students
Westview’s college platform, SCOIR, offers several key features that greatly benefit students during their college research and application process:
Comprehensive College Research: SCOIR provides extensive information on a wide range of colleges and universities. Students can explore details about various institutions, including academic programs, campus life, and admission criteria.
Campus Visit Alerts: The platform notifies students when colleges are visiting Westview. This feature allows students to engage with college representatives directly on campus, gaining valuable insights and making connections.
Detailed College Statistics: SCOIR offers access to essential college statistics, such as acceptance rates, average test scores, and financial aid information. This data helps students evaluate how well they fit with different institutions and make informed decisions.
Scattergram Analysis: The scattergram tool visualizes where students stand relative to the admissions data of their target colleges. This feature provides a clear picture of how a student’s academic profile compares to those of other applicants, aiding in realistic college selection.
By utilizing these features, Westview students can efficiently research colleges, stay informed about campus visits, access critical statistics, and better understand their chances of admission, making the college search and application process more streamlined and effective.
