COUNSELORS CORNER
4 Year Planning Update
This week, your students were given instructions on how to update and submit their 4 Year Plan for approval. You can view the video here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DVDgeJieOtXLrG3ZwAyX56ZG3DL81w2O/view The plan must be submitted before their individual counselor meeting that will take place between January 22 and March 7. Once a student meets with their counselor for course selection and then needs to change a course selection, the student will need to complete a course change request form. The deadline to make a request to change a course for next year is April 1, 2025.
Naviance Presentation
The “Naviance 4 Year Plans and Pathways” presentation by Mrs. Tabor, you can view it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBRkRkg9cA4. Naviance codes were emailed to parents on Friday, November 1, 2024. If you did not receive your code or cannot log in, please email Mrs. Tabor at ktabor@conroeisd.net.
If you have two children at TWHS, those accounts can be linked. Please email Mrs. Tabor to make the request. If you have a student at McCullough and one at TWHS, those accounts CANNOT be linked until both students are at TWHS.
In the presentation, parents were given the opportunity to ask questions. Here are the FAQs. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kBrWVQGLEh74r8lXgy3sFzqtmUkLWRs4xMWhT__Hzd0/edit?tab=t.0
Dual Credit Important Information
Students interested in taking a dual credit course must have a qualifying SAT, ACT, or TSIA2 placement test score. The qualifying score chart can be found here. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PRb8Ptvg5Srx8XRZ8J3vdVK6gOgSq3uNp0PQNqga76M/edit?tab=t.0 Students who already have a qualifying score on file, whether it’s an SAT, ACT, or TSIA2 test they took last year, are NOT required to re-test. Students can sign up to take the SAT or ACT test through www.collegeboard.org and www.act.org. The PSAT test is no longer an acceptable qualifying test.
For students not wanting to take the SAT or ACT test, they have the option to take the TSIA2 placement test. The Texas Success Initiative (TSIA2) is a college readiness test. The test includes reading, writing, and math. When students take the TSIA2 test, their scores are good for 5 years! In order for students to take the TSIA2 test, they need to create an Accuplacer account as well as complete a pre-assessment activity prior to the testing day. This test will be given during the week of March 24th. Instructions for creating your Accuplacer account and pre-assessment activity can be found here. https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/dc-steps/step-3-qualifying-test-scores/tsia-2-testing Students are not required to take the entire test, however, it is encouraged in case they choose to do another dual credit course at a later date.
SIGN UP FOR THE TSIA2 IN MARCH BY CLICKING HERE: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeyVV6Xm1q_rkY9fl4N9G-nsKXbZMd6Hha88hunqVKSkJmScA/viewform or Scan the QR Code.
The deadline to complete all of the dual credit steps and submit DC paperwork and qualifying test scores is Friday, April 11th, 2025. Students are encouraged to sign up now for whichever test they choose. A qualifying score will help them complete the remaining dual credit steps. Students can begin completing the dual credit steps https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-dual-credit/dc-steps on January 6th, 2025, and this can be done before the student meeting with their counselor.
During the initial course request meetings with counselors, there is ample time to sign up for a dual credit course. However, the paperwork should be submitted completely to ensure placement in the courses. We only have a certain number of seats available for several of the dual credit classes, and they are assigned on a first come, first served basis.
SAT Testing Dates https://www.collegeboard.org/
ACT Testing Dates https://www.act.org/content/act/en-texas.html
If your student needs testing accommodations for the SAT and has current testing accommodations for in-class testing, please contact Mrs. Tabor at ktabor@conroeisd.net for the accommodation request paperwork.

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS NEWS
FOREIGN LANGUAGE: TWHS offers a multitude of languages, including German, French, Chinese, and Japanese. As students decide which language to choose, there are a few things to keep in mind. First and foremost, students should make sure that they choose the language and culture that truly interests them. They will be spending a lot of time in their foreign language classroom, and they might as well enjoy it while they learn. Secondly, they should keep their own marketability in mind. Which language will make them stand out to future employers? See below for more information. German, French, Chinese, and Japanese at TWHS

Earning the honor of being a Texas All-State member is the most difficult accomplishment to achieve as a high school musician. These students will travel to San Antonio February 12-15 for a music clinic and convention where they will learn from nationally and internationally recognized conductors, culminating in a concert in front of thousands. We are so proud of ALL of these TWHS Band members for putting in the countless hours of practice it took to achieve these Region, Area, & State memberships! EXCELLENT ACHIEVEMENT HIGHLANDERS!

CLINIC NOTES
This is a reminder that all medications that are given at school must be signed in to the clinic by a parent or guardian, even if the student is 18 or older. We do not have any stock medications; they all must be provided from home each school year. That includes cough drops, headache medication, antacids, and antibiotic ointment. There is a form in the clinic that you complete to give us permission to administer that medication, then we count and sign off on the medication in front of you. This is a district-wide policy, and is done to maintain the safety of our students and staff.
District guidelines for checking in medications
- Over-the-counter medication dosage must not exceed the dose recommendation listed on the bottle. Exception: If your physician, dentist, or orthodontist has directed a certain dosage to be given that is greater than that recommended on the bottle, a written order will need to be included with the written permission from the parent.
- Medications must be in their original container, and unexpired.
- The use of “sample” medication from the physician, dentist, or orthodontist must have signed written instructions from that doctor accompanied by the parent’s written permission.
- No more than a ninety (90) day supply of a prescription medication may be checked in at one time.
- No more than a thirty (30) day supply of a nonprescription medication, to be used “as needed”, may be checked in at one time. We do not have room to store Costco-sized bottles.
- All prescription and nonprescription medications must be labeled in English.
- All prescription medications must be prescribed by an authorized licensed healthcare provider in Texas. Medications prescribed by authorized licensed healthcare providers in other US states may be accepted for no longer than 45 calendar days.
If your student has an Epi-pen, inhaler, or diabetic supplies prescribed to them, there are forms that need to be signed by a doctor and parent each school year that give them permission to carry and self-administer those medications. Those forms can be found here:https://twhs.conroeisd.net/departments/department-home/clinic/
If you are aware that your student will be going on a field trip and will need to have scheduled medication administered by a staff member, or carry emergency medications while they are on the trip, please contact the clinic for guidance. You can reach Alana Ansley at the Senior Campus at 936-709-1076 or aransley@conroeisd.net, and Erica Falcon at the 9th Grade Campus at 832-592-8209 or efalcon@conroeisd.net. Both nurses are available in the clinic from 7:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m. on school days.

SCHOOL CASH ONLINE: Attention Parents: Please be sure to check your child's School Cash Online account frequently. The website is www.conroeisd.schoolcashonline.com. Fees are added throughout the year for various activities. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the fees charged to your child, please contact the classroom teacher or club sponsor. Failure to pay fees listed as "required" or "overdue" may result in a student not being permitted to participate in some extracurricular activities. If you need assistance logging in to School Cash Online or adding and viewing your child's account, please visit schoolcashonline.com/Home/Support and view the resources available to help.
ABSENT REPORTING APP: In an effort to make things easier for our families, CISD is launching an app to help you report your student's absences to our school when they are out.
