Principal's Message
Hello Sabre Families,
Welcome to the first full week of May. Thank you so much for your continued support of the school community and our students who are pushing hard to complete the last 5 weeks of school. Good luck to our International Baccalaureate students who are writing their IB exams this week and next week. Full IB students write exams in 6 subject areas and many courses have multiple exams.
Shoutout to Ms. Wong and the Sr. Women's Handball Team on winning in a shootout on Thursday night against Harry Ainlay. That was the league semi finals and the girls gave it everything they had to overcome a 6 goal deficit in the second half to win in a shootout!! Outstanding!! They, then went on to capture Metro gold on Friday night. Sal won handily with a 46-34 victory. We are so proud of the player's performance and how well they handled the pressure of a gold medal game, and we are happy to hang another banner in the gym.
Mental Health Week:
Elk Island Public Schools is proud to participate in Mental Health week with schools throughout Alberta. Every year the Canadian Mental Health Association dedicates a week in May to raise the awareness of Mental Health. For this week here at SAL, we are offering various opportunities to get involved. Check out the themed cafeteria menu for the week. Wednesday is “Hats-on for Mental Health” across the province, so show your Sabre Pride. Remember, we will kick things off with Hershey’s Hugs on Monday. Let’s have a wonderful week Sabres!

Congratulations to Miranda Higuchi and her Culinary Arts students for a wonderful job at the 2024 Nourish Gala in support of the Strathcona County Food Bank. Our students, along with 5 other local businesses, were invited to run food service stations for the event. Salisbury students created delicious pulled pork tacos with mango pico de gallo which were enjoyed by all. The students also served dessert to each table at the end of the night. Well done Sabres!
