We will have our PTO set up and selling spirit wear that night, as well as our transportation department, kids express, food and nutrition and girl scouts set up in the MPR during the event. We look forward to welcoming everyone back!
Classroom Assignments
Classroom assignments, welcome letters, and optional supply lists will be sent out on Wednesday, July 10th through parentsquare. If you have not signed up for parentsquare yet please follow the instructions below in this newsletter as we will be using this communication tool moving forward. Just a reminder that a lot of time and effort go into class placements by our staff and we do not make classroom changes at the beginning of the school year. If you have any concerns please communicate them with your teacher and work with together to develop a plan to implement to create a successful environment and experience for your child. If at that time the concern/problem still exists then please contact administration.
Beginning of the Year Information
- Students are allowed on campus starting at 8:10. Kindergarten students will go to the courtyard, 1st and 2nd grade students will use the playground structure and swings, and 3rd-6th grade will use the basketball courts and the field.
- Kindergarten parents will be allowed on campus with their child(ren) before school on July 17-19 in the morning to take pictures and wait with them. Then, when the teacher comes out to take them to the classroom, we ask that parents please say your goodbyes and not accompany your child(ren) to the classroom. Thank your for your help with this transition.
- Beginning Monday, August 5th we will allow parents to come in and eat lunch with their child(ren). There will be designated tables inside and outside for you to eat with your child(ren) only, no friends. You will sign in at the office and at the scheduled lunch time will be allowed to head back to the cafeteria. Once lunch is over please return to the office to sign out. We will share the lunch schedule out with families once it is completed.
Site Council - Parents Needed
The Ryan Elementary site council is a committee of staff, parents, and community members that meet to discuss school goals, safety concerns, and distribution of tax credit funds. The Site Council meets approximately 4-6 times per school year.
We are in need of parents and community members to serve on our Ryan Site Council starting in the 2024-2025 school year. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please complete the form below. If elected, each member is asked to serve a 2 year term.
Please complete this Site Council Interest form by Friday, July 26th. Mr. Durham will notify new members by August 2nd.
If you have any questions please reach out to Mr. Durham @ durham.justin@cusd80.com or 480-224-3200
Staffing Update
Please read the pdf below to review our staff list for this year!
Pickup and Drop off Procedures
Please review our parent pick up and drop off procedures this year and check out the attached map.
Morning
- Students being dropped off by car can only get dropped off in the main loop and then will walk to the playground through the front gates.
- Students walking or riding their bikes to school will enter through the front playground gate and then over to the bike rack at the main playground.
- We will have a duty person at the front gates and a person on the small field next to the bike rack to help with this change.
Afternoon
- All students, K-6, being picked up by car will come line up in front of the library for pick up. Parents will use the main parking lot loop for car pick up. Please enter the school area off of Mustang Dr. over to Bright Angel Way. All cars should be turning left into the school parking lot.
- Please make sure to have your car sign in the window so we know who you are picking up and can have them ready.
- Walkers and bikers will be dismissed at the bell to get their bike/scooter and use one of our crosswalks if needed.
Please remember that drop off and pick-up will take a little bit longer at the beginning of the year since we have more families using car line due to the heat and it being the start of the year.
Lastly, please do not use the north staff parking lot for pickup and drop off. This has become a safety issue in the past and we are asking that all parents please use the pick up and drop off line in the main loop in front of the school.
Parent Square
Bus Registration
Families eligible for busing can register for the 2024-25 school year starting May 6, 2024.
ALL students riding the bus MUST be registered each year.
The process is about the same as this past year, but there will be extra communication. Not only will parent portals have a date & time stamp of when they submitted their request, they will also receive email confirmations acknowledging their submission, approval &/or denial including the reason for denial.
All 2024-25 routes will be completed with eligible students assigned to a bus by July 5, 2024. Bus route details will be updated in their Infinite Campus accounts. Parents are advised to check there for their student's specific bus details after July 8, 2024 if they receive an approval email.
Attached are the 2024-25 Transportation Registration instructions in both English & Spanish, instructions for how to read student bus assignment detail in Infinite Campus for both parents and CUSD staff, and a Transportation Registration FAQ sheet which will also be on our website Transportation FAQ. (The website is a work in progress, but the pertinent items are there.)
Discipline Information
Please take a moment to review over our discipline plan and procedures at Ryan Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year. This aligns with the CUSD student handbook.
