Welcome Back To School!
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year. For some, high school is just the beginning. While for others, it's the start of the final year of high school. We have missed our students and are getting prepared to receive them on their first day back. Each month, you will receive a newsletter similar to this one that details important information. Our hope is to keep you updated on school activities, resources, expectations and opportunities for students to maximize the high school experience and for families to stay connected. The partnership in your child's education is a priority for our building and I thank you for allowing us the opportunity to connect and build a positive relationship with them.

-9th Grade Stagger Start-
The start of this school year presents another opportunity for us to connect with previous students and welcome new students to the school. This year, the 9th grade students will be aligning with the stagger start model implemented in younger grades across the district. Incoming freshman will follow the below stagger start schedule based on their last name:
August 19th- 9th graders with last name A-G
August 20th- 9th graders with last name H-O
August 21st- 9th graders with last name P-Z
August 22nd- ALL 9th graders attend school
10th through 12th graders will ALL start school on August 19th.

-Chromebook Distribution-
This year, Chromebooks will be issued to students by request. In order for your child to receive a Chromebook, the proper guardian permissions MUST be completed in the Back-To-School Update section on the PowerSchool Parent Portal (see link and instructions below). If your child needs a Chromebook, the distribution location, dates and times are as follows:
- August 12th (freshman only)- Freshman Orientation
- 12pm-2pm; EHS dining hall
- August 21st
- 3-4pm; EHS dining hall
- August 22nd
- 3-4pm; EHS dining hall
- EHS Open House, August 28th
- 6-7:30pm; EHS dining hall
-Back-To-School Student Update Instructions-
To complete the Back-To-School Student Update once you are signed in:
- Choose the student tab at the top that you want to do the update for.
- On the left menu, click on Back-To-School Student Update.
- From there, a new screen will open in PowerSchool Enrollment and ask you to verify the student's birthday.
- The form will open up and direct you from there.
Free and Reduced Price Meals:
Children need healthy meals to learn. The Elyria City Schools offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $2.10; lunch costs $3.60. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals. Please find instructions and the link below to apply. A paper copy can be picked up and returned to any team office.
