CELL PHONES
We continue to see an increase in student cell phone use during the school day. This is a reminder that students are allowed to have their phones on their person at school but are NOT ALLOWED to have the phones ON, OUT, or IN USE during the school day. Students who break this district-wide rule receive office referrals which result in consequences applicable to their infractions. Please help students remember their priorities during the school day are to focus on being successful in their classes.
POWER HOUR
· Students are REQUIRED to schedule their POWER HOUR sessions for the week in Flextime Manager. Students should also check their Power Hour schedules daily for any changes due to teachers scheduling them for required tutoring. Students cannot choose to go to any Power Hour class for which they are NOT scheduled. Flextime Manager is a program accessible via the internet at school or at home, so students can access the program anytime.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS/PHONE NUMBER
It is extremely important that we are kept up to date with any and all changes in address, phone number, and emergency contact information. This information is required in case we need to contact the parents/guardians in an emergency. Please do not assume that your child will be able to contact you on a cell phone if an emergency arises. For various reasons, cell phones may not be authorized for use until a situation has been investigated. In addition, the school uses a phone contact system to pass on information to the parents when necessary. Without up-to-date addresses and phone numbers, you may not receive very important information regarding events happening at the school.
DRESS CODE GUIDELINES
Please take a moment to review all the dress code guidelines in the NHS Student Handbook on the school website under the Families tab. Below is a sampling of recent dress code concerns.
· Headgear, including sunglasses, is not permitted to be worn inside any building. This applies to both male and female students. This includes, but is not limited to, hats, hoods, bonnets, do-rags, and bandannas.
· Crop tops are not permitted. Students are not allowed to rectify the wearing of the crop top by putting a jacket over the crop top or zipping the jacket up.
· Shorts, dresses, or skirts are acceptable dress if the length is to the middle of the thigh.
· Baggy pants or shorts that establish a belt line below the hipbone or show underwear while the student is walking or sitting is not allowed. SAGGING IS NOT PERMITTED.
