COMMUNITY UPDATE
Hello North Rockland Families,
We were excited this week to welcome back students and staff from the long Memorial Day weekend. Now, it’s the sprint to the June finish line!
Farley Elementary School recognized those lost serving our nation during its 10th Annual Memorial Day Assembly. This longstanding tradition offers students the opportunity to reflect on the significance of the national holiday while honoring active military members and veterans in our North Rockland community. Thank you to the administrators, teachers and students who participated in this thoughtful and solemn program.
Meanwhile, at Haverstraw Elementary, students were buzzing with excitement at lunchtime as they returned to new cafeteria furniture! The new tables and seating, made possible through the AmTab K-12 Food Court Furniture Grant from the School Nutrition Foundation, have transformed the dining and gathering space into a modern and inviting environment.
Thursday was packed with Raider pride and new beginnings. West Haverstraw Elementary hosted an orientation for incoming kindergarteners. As a district, we are thrilled to welcome the Class of 2038 to Stony Point, Thiells and West Haverstraw elementary schools this September.
That same day, Willow Grove, Farley and Haverstraw elementary schools competed in the district’s first “Boat Regatta” since 2019 - which sailed in to the North Rockland High School pool complex under light seas. It was an exciting return for this fun and educational tradition. While WGES took home the title six years ago, the winning cup this year went to HES. Congratulations to Kyle Faleck, Sebastian Lozano and Jeremy Figaro.
Thursday evening brought one of the most emotional and uplifting events of the school year. NRHS students shared essays about the teachers who’ve had a profound impact on their lives. Heartfelt stories and expressions of gratitude served as powerful reminders of the incredible influence our educators have every day. Thank you to all of our amazing teachers!
As we turn the calendar to June, we’re heading into the busiest and most celebratory month of the school year. With field days, moving-up ceremonies, end-of-year celebrations and graduation on the horizon, there’s a lot to look forward to. To help you stay informed, we’ve created a Breakdown of End-of-Year Events by School so you can easily find the activities relevant to your child(ren) and for our high school families, the High School Regents Exam Schedule is available as well.

Athletics
William Rutter
William is an eighth grader at Fieldstone Middle School and on the Varsity Boys Golf team. He has been known to be one of their most consistent player this season. He was the medalist at two of the biggest victories of their season so far. A two-stroke victory over Warwick in the Wounded Warrior Challenge and a four-shot victory over league rival Clarkstown South. Without his stellar play, the outcome would have been different. His coach said, “William's work ethic is unmatched, as is his enthusiasm for the game. With four more seasons to play, he is going to be a great one.”
Yosmairy Santos Martinez
Yosmairy, nicknamed “Yos” is a freshman at North Rockland High School on the JV Girls Lacrosse team. She plays goalie on the team. In their two games against Clarkstown South she had 13 saves and 14 saves against Arlington. She is known as someone who is energetic in every practice and game. She does her best to hype the team before they play. She has also helped out their youth lacrosse program, specifically our 7/8 team, on multiple occasions on the JV team’s off days. Her coach said, “Yos is an overall great player and person. She always is looking to get better and she’s shown such growth throughout the season.”
