May!
Welcome to the merry month of May! How are we already here?! We are in the final push of learning and knowledge as we come to the end of what I would say is an amazing school year. Your support continues to be a valuable piece of our puzzle and I thank you for what you do every day. The best is yet to come! Student Questionnaires have been sent home asking for you to describe your child so we can best place your child for next year. If you choose to provide information, please send them in no later than May 9th.
The months of May and June are busy with field trips, assemblies, celebrations, and end of year activities. Please continue checking your child's folder for lots of information coming home these next few weeks.
As the weather gets warmer, please be reminded that proper footwear is necessary for safe play during the school day. Flip flops and sandals with a heel become a safety concern during PE classes and recess. Please save that fancy footwear for home use.
National Park Day at Cold Spring!
While some thought we were actually going on a field trip, the staff at Cold Spring transformed their classrooms into nine different national parks for students to visit! Students chose two national parks to visit, and they travelled to different classrooms to learn about those parks. Students received park badges, just like they would if they really travelled to those parks, and put them on their hats. You will get to see these hats, and more from this fun day at this year's Expo on June 6th.
Cub Character Board
This month Mrs. Chase and Mrs. Kottmann's class celebrated how much they've grown this school year. The theme of self-appreciation and celebrating ourselves will carry us through the end of the year for our Cub Character Board. Next month, our Cubs will hang their self-portraits they made in the main lobby for all to see how amazing they are.
Staff Appreciation Week
Staff Appreciation Week begins on Monday, May 5th through Friday, May 9th. Cold Spring is the place it is because of them, and they shine bright! To help celebrate them, please send me an image of your child holding up a "thank you" sign they colored, or a picture they made, so that I can put it into a slide show to surprise them. Pictures can be emailed to me by Wednesday, May 7th at k.fischetti@ppcsd.org. *This will not be posted to social media or the website*
Evacuation Drill
We will be conducting an evacuation drill this month. We practice this type of drill to be prepared for incidents where we need to evacuate the building due to safety concerns, such as a gas leak, or when it is deemed safer outside of the building than inside the building. This will take place during the school day and will not impact arrival or dismissal times. More information will be shared in the upcoming days. Please do not share this on social media or with the public as this is confidential and for the safety of our students and staff.
