Grade 4-6 Options
Elementary Skating Times (Grade 1-6)
School Skating will be from February 3-12. Your child will need to bring their skates and a helmet. Please remember proper winter gear (winter jackets, snow pants, toques and gloves) as children will be walking to and from the skating rink and some teachers require students to wear snow pants on the ice. If your child needs skates or a helmet please let your child's teacher know as soon as possible. If any parents would be able to help tie skates, it would be appreciated.

Lynks Job Fair
Lynks is hosting a job fair on February 7th from 10:00-3:00pm at the Legion. All JCC grade 10 students will be bussed over at 11:50am for lunch, to listen to the keynote speaker and browse the job fair. Students are encouraged to bring their resume if they are interested in applying for a summer job. Grade 11 and 12 students are also welcome to attend.

A reminder that the trainee must have trained through every skill with in the section they are choosing to test on, as well as their trainer needs to have initialed the skill box' in the manual. Trainees/students testing will also need to bring their manual to test day. This is MANDATORY.
Also a reminder you will not receive your "confirmation" immediately. "Student Test Confirmations" will be sent out on February 3rd & 4th, 2025. Below is an image of a successful registration.

On February 11th from 6-8PM, RhPAP will be hosting a 2 hour webinar called How Do I Get There? Emergency Medical Services in collaboration with Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services, Alberta College of Paramedics, and Northwestern Polytechnic.
This session includes: - An overview of career opportunities in EMS. - Insights into training pathways and career progression. - The chance to connect with experienced Paramedics and hear about their real-life experiences. - Time for questions to help you plan your journey in EMS. Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition - Thursday, February 27 @ 7:00PM
Driver's Education - Brooks Driving School
An opportunity will be made available for students to enrol in Driver’s Education. This is NOT a school course, but a program that is offered as a service to interested students. The course will be offered by Brooks Driving School.
Students will be required to complete the 15 hour online classroom portion of the course before commencing the 10 hour driving portion of the course. The 15 hours of online classes are done from the student’s home on their computer and they can log in and off as they like. There are 22 modules then a test at the end. They must achieve 80 % on the test to pass. The students have 90 days to complete the online classes. Driving times are pre-scheduled and run in 2 hour blocks. Students must be at least 14 years old and have a valid Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License. After the due date for registration and payment has passed, a driving schedule will be handed out to the participants. The cost of the course is $910.00 plus GST. Once payment is made, students will be provided with login information to commence the online classroom portion of the course. The driving portion of the course will commence the week of April 1st. Students may be required to drive during school hours, however they are responsible for any school work that is missed. World of Choices
Grade 11 students are invited to sign up for the World of Choices 2025 In-Person Event! If you’ve never heard of this, World of Choices is an opportunity for your students in Grades 11 to learn about different career paths directly from professionals in their desired fields, industries and professions. In breakout room sessions, students learn first-hand what it takes to be successful. Students can participate in this event to open up a “World of Choices” for them.
By attending students will:
- Become empowered to succeed in designing a career path
- Learn the tools to better meet challenges of today's work world
- Capitalize on career opportunities in emerging, traditional, and non-traditional fields
- Gain a better understanding of careers and the educational foundation needed
- Discover educational opportunities
- Develop a proactive attitude about a future career
- Understand industry and labor market trends
- Networking through the Career Fair
If you'd like to attend this free event happening on May 6th at the Red Deer Polytechnic. please sign up with Mrs. Forsyth. Busing will be arranged from the school. Please keep in mind that this is an early dismissal day at 11:44 am.
