Opt-out Information & Universal Screening
The purpose of this communication is to inform you that students in grades 2-12 will take the mySAEBRS assessment this fall and again this spring. The mySAEBRS assessment, which stands for Minnesota Student Academic Behavioral Rating Scales, is student self-evaluation. It provides valuable insights into areas such as social skills, emotional well-being, and behavioral strengths and challenges. This assessment helps us gain a more comprehensive understanding of your child's needs, allowing us to better support their growth and development. For more information about assessment items and questions asked click here. If you would like to opt your child out of this assessment, please complete the Parent/Guardian Refusal for Student Participation in Districtwide Assessments/Testing linked on https://www.district279.org/academics/assessments.

Feedback opportunity on attendance boundary considerations.
The attendance boundary change process is kicking off. Community involvement will be an important part of this. In that effort, we’re currently asking for feedback on the considerations that should be adhered to during the creation of the proposed attendance boundary scenarios – from now until Oct. 9. Staff, students, parents/caregivers and community members are all welcome to participate. Shared responses are anonymous and can be completed within minutes. Thank you.

PTO News
The PTO at MGMS is called PACT (Parents and Community Together). We work to build a strong, inclusive community at MGMS. Every MGMS parent/guardian is a member. Primary ways to make an impact include donations, volunteering, and advocacy.

Donations
Keep an eye out in this section and in other areas of the Mustang Memo for donation requests throughout the year.
Volunteer Opportunities
Joining the board or co-leading an event is a fantastic way to get involved and make a difference. We need to fill the following roles ASAP so we can continue to offer opportunities for our students and support for the staff.
President (PTO/PACT Board, 5-10 hours/month)
Service Project Coordinator and Social Event Coordinator (4 hours/week before the event)
If interested, contact Kendra Grand at KendraGrand356@gmail.com.
Advocacy
One of the best ways you can positively impact the school is through advocacy. Check out ISD 279’s legislative priorities and contact your legislators to ask them to support the priorities you’re passionate about. Watch for updated priorities released by the ISD 279 School Board later this fall.
PTO Meetings
Attend the first PACT meeting to hear school updates from Principal Smith and learn about MGMS initiatives. Even if you can pop in for a little bit, please come (or log in)!
