The CDW staff and students are so proud of our boys' and girls' basketball teams who placed 2nd in the Golden Knights Invitational Valley Middle School League. Good job on a wonderful season!
CDW Debate Team
On Wednesday, February 5th, the Debate Team competed at BCA against students from Northvale, Harrington Park, Demarest, Haworth, Cresskill, and Tenafly. Debaters presented cases for and against the United States federal government significantly strengthening U.S. protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks. Teammates Holden Miranda and Juah Jeong won their Affirmative round, while Sophie Bergelson and Katie Jung, and Chloe Kim and Lois Kwon won their Negatives. A special congratulations to 8th graders Amy Choe and Michael Tang who won their Affirmative with 26 speaker points and their Negative with 24 speaker points! The final debate of the season will take place on March 5th at Cresskill.
Student Council SOUP-ER Bowl
Thank you to all of the students who donated soup cans for the local food pantries. Due to the snow day, the Student Council is extending its SOUP-er Bowl soup collection competition to Monday, February 10th. Grade 5 students should bring their cans to Ms. Reiser's room, Grade 6 students to Mr. Ferrara's room, Grade 7 students to Mr. Soltys's room, and Grade 8 students to Mr. Gagliano's room. The winner with the most cans will be the winner of the spirt stick!
The Philadelphia Eagles take on the reigning champions, The Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, this Sunday. USA Today predicts that the Eagles will win this year's Super Bowl. After polling the CDW students and staff, 56% of the student population is rooting for the Eagles to dethrone the Chiefs and take home the Lombardi trophy. Will you be watching this Sunday?

The OTPTO and the Media Center are proud to announce two additional author visits this year for all grades! We are pleased to have New York Times Bestselling Author of Disney's "Twisted Tales," Jen Calonita, and famed author of "Game Changers" and the "Charlie Joe Jackson" series, Tommy Greenwald.
Please see the lineup below and if you are interested in your child having a copy of any of the books- they will be delivered to CDW, signed, and handed out after the author visits. Reach out to Mrs. Melillo for any questions. More information can be found on the Media Center Website Page.

Paperwork Necessary for Playing a Spring Sport!
If your child(ren) is trying out for baseball, softball, or track, parents must complete these 5 forms by logging into the Genesis Parent Portal and going to the "Forms Library" by Monday, February 24th. (See picture below.)

- CDW Sports and Intramurals Participation Form
- Opioid Use and Misuse Educational Fact Sheet

Please also know that your child's physical form and PPE form need to be handed into the school nurse and be up to date. If your child(ren) received a physical examination more than 90 days prior to the first day of tryouts, you must complete a Health History Update Questionnaire (attached below).
Please be aware that these required forms must be received, reviewed, and processed by the school nurse before the athlete can try out or practice. Incomplete forms will cause a delay for tryouts.
Intramurals: Badminton
Mr. Ferrara will continue to run Intramurals on Fridays at 3:00 PM. The current sport is Badminton! If your child(ren) is interested, he/she can see Mr. Ferrara in Room 208 with any questions. - is nauseous or is vomiting.
- has diarrhea.
Lunch at CDW
Students should either bring their lunch from home each day, or parents may order through one of the approved vendors for delivery to CDW. If you order lunch from an approved vendor for delivery, please make sure the vendor knows your child's first and last name and grade level.
