LodiUSD Kindness Challenge - February 10th-14th, 2025
We are looking forward to our annual Kindness Challenge coming up the week of February 10th. LUSD has set a goal to perform 100,000 acts of kindness in one week! We will be partnering with The White Pony Express to collect gift cards for the families affected by the fires in Los Angeles. More information to come soon!
Check out our spirit flier and gift card flier to get prepared for the challenge.
Crosswalk Safety
In order to continue keeping our Oakwood students, staff, and families safe before school at drop off and after school at dismissal, we are asking our community to follow all California laws pertaining to our crosswalk. Please see before for reminders.
California law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians at all crosswalks, including those near schools. Drivers should be especially careful in school zones, where children may not be aware of traffic.
Laws for school crosswalks
- California Vehicle Code (CVC) 21950: Requires drivers to yield to pedestrians at all crosswalks, including those near schools
- CVC 21368: Covers marked pedestrian crosswalks near school buildings
- Daylighting law: Prohibits parking within 20 ft of any marked or unmarked crosswalk
Other safety tips for school crosswalks:
- Drivers should be prepared for sudden stops and avoid distractions
- Drivers should slow down and yield to pedestrians at crosswalks
- Drivers should look for pedestrians and be prepared to stop, whether or not the crosswalk has flashing lights
