🚭CATCH My Breath: Vaping Prevention for Our 6th Graders
On Thursday afternoon, our 6th-grade students participated in CATCH My Breath, a research-based vaping prevention program designed to equip them with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices. Throughout the session, students learned about the dangers of e-cigarettes, how advertising influences youth, and strategies to resist peer pressure. This program is part of our ongoing commitment to student health and aligns with our efforts to encourage positive decision-making. If you’d like to learn more, visit the CATCH Global Foundation website.
📣Junior Achievement Volunteers Needed!
We’re excited to bring Junior Achievement to our school for a one-day event, and we need your help to make it a success! Junior Achievement provides hands-on activities that inspire and prepare our students to succeed in the real world by teaching them about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness.
Volunteering is a one-day commitment, and no prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to make a difference in the lives of our students! If you're interested, please contact Kaitlyn Schrank, Regional Student Impact Manager at Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana.

Wellness: From Nurse Shelby
As most of you know, we have been experiencing a rise in illness here recently, and I wanted to take a moment to remind you all of some everyday steps you can take to help prevent the spread of germs and help keep you and your family healthy.
Wash your hands frequently. Did you know that hand washing is one of the best ways to prevent spreading germs to others? It is best practice to wash your hands with soap and water before you eat, after using the restroom, after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose, and when your hands appear visibly dirty. An alcohol based hand rub is suitable in most cases as long as your hands are not visibly soiled.
Cover your coughs and sneezes. Whenever possible, it is best to cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, rather than using your shirt sleeve. This is because you can throw the tissue away once you are finished and reduce spreading germs as you go about your day.
Clean frequently touched surfaces. Regular sanitizing of frequently touched surfaces such as cell phones, student’s chromebooks, bathrooms, door knobs, desks and countertops can help reduce the spread of germs. If someone in your home has been ill, taking a few minutes to wipe down frequently touched areas can help reduce the likelihood of spreading the illness to other family members.
Stay home when you aren’t feeling well. If you are unwell, stay home to limit contact with others and allow your body time to rest. Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, a good general rule is to stay home until you have been without episodes of vomiting, diarrhea, or fever (a temperature of 100.4 or greater) for at least 24 hours without the help of fever-reducing medications such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Any other symptoms you’ve had should also be overall improved prior to returning to your normal activities.
