Halloween festivities & guidelines
Guidelines and details
We look forward to celebrating Halloween with classroom parties and an all-school parade. All students are invited to proudly wear their costumes on Thursday, October 31. Grades 1-5, please have your child bring their costume in a bag to change into after lunch. Preschool and Kindergarten students should wear their costumes to school for convenience.
For safety reasons, and out of respect to our younger population of students, we ask that students DO NOT bring weapons or wear masks to school. It is difficult to judge what is a scary mask or whether a student's vision is impeded. If parents understand this policy ahead of time, families can prepare an appropriate school costume.
Notice to all Dist. 30 families
Maple winter fertilizer application
Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 is partnering with Bertog Landscape to treat the grounds on and around the Maple School soccer field. On November 1, Bertog Landscape will apply 40-0-0 winterizer fertilizer. This is to help the turf store nutrients during the winter season to promote early spring growth. In the event the application cannot be applied on this date, the alternate date of application will be November 2. For questions, please contact District 30 Buildings & Grounds Coordinator Jason Borst at 847-400-8964.
Speech screenings start in Nov.
Parents will be notified if their child does not pass the screening (based on District 30 criteria) or if developmentally appropriate errors are noted. If the screening results indicate additional assessment and/or speech therapy support, you will be contacted by one of the Speech-Language Pathologists.
District 30’s preschool screenings are also held at Willowbrook School. These screenings, designed to identify preschool-age children who may benefit from special education support prior to kindergarten, are conducted throughout the school year. If you would like to schedule a screening for your preschool child, please contact Tiffani Cuneo at 847-498-8964.
Request a Mood Meter for your family
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This month, our RULER: School-Home Connection below has focused on the Mood Meter, an excellent and user-friendly tool for checking in on how our students are feeling. To help you incorporate the Mood Meter at home, we've created magnets and markers that families can use together. Placing a Mood Meter magnet on your fridge lets everyone plot their dot and share their feelings.
If you would like to receive a Mood Meter magnet and an informational pamphlet, please fill out the form below. We will send a green envelope with all the materials home with your child by the end of next week.
I appreciate your support, and we look forward to continuing our School-Home partnership!
Best,
Katie Compagno
Law enforcement drill feedback Oct. 24
Willowbrook is required to conduct six safety drills during the school year. We've already completed a bus evacuation drill and two fire/evacuation drills. On Thursday, October 24 we facilitated a law enforcement drill with the Glenview police on site. We practiced the run and hide options with our Willowbrook students. The Glenview police gave our students positive feedback on a job well done.

Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 will have three school board seats to be filled at the Consolidated Election on April 1, 2025. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2029.
Candidates for the office of the school board can now circulate nominating petitions for signatures. The period for filing nominating petitions concludes November 18, with November 12 being the first day permitted to file a petition.
A candidate for the school board is required to file the nominating petitions, Statement of Candidacy, and receipt for filing their Statement of Economic Interests with the applicable county election clerk and not with the school board secretary or the administrative offices of the school district. The county clerk may have petition forms available, or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website, elections.il.gov.
