SOUTHWEST ELEMENTARY FRIDAY NOTE
May 8, 2020
Southwest Covid-19 Assistant Principal
End of Year Assembly
I'm in the process of planning a Virtual End of Year Assembly. It will obviously look much different this year but I want to make sure we honor students for a great year and send our 5th grade students to GMS on a positive note. I have a draft agenda for the video below. I will be putting this video together but I could use your help. I would love to have staff members submit video clips for the "5th Grade Virtual Exit". One of my favorite parts of the EOY Assembly is when 5th grade students exit and everyone stands and claps as they leave the gym. I'd like to replicate this as much as possible in the video.
If you'd be willing/interested, please submit your video to me by Monday, May 11th. I plan on using the week of May 11th to put it together (my first video like this so please be kind!). Please use the guidelines below if you submit a video clip. My plan is to share the video with all SW families for students to see and post on the SW FB page.
Video message to 5th grade students (Please no more than 15 seconds)
Video of you standing and clapping for 5-10 seconds (Trying to replicate 5th graders leaving the gym)

Remote Learning Curriculum Adjustment Work
Weekly Task(s) Each grade level/department needs to complete each week’s task(s) by 4 p.m. on Friday of each week.
Week of May 4th-8th- Creating Skill/Concept List- Please complete your grade level/department list of skills/concepts that were not taught during the 4th quarter of the 2019-2020 school year. Enter your list of skills/concepts not taught on the tab titled “4th Q Skills/Concepts” on the Remote Learning Curriculum Adjustment Plans document. We understand that some of the primary grade levels may not have science and social studies skills/concepts. The information entered on these tabs will be used to make curriculum adjustments for the 2020-2021 school year.
Week of May 11th-15th- Curriculum Adjustment Planning- Please answer the three questions on each grade level/department’s tab titled “Fall 2020 Plan” on the Remote Learning Curriculum Adjustment Plans document. This work will provide clarity for how each grade level/department will adjust curriculum due to the shutdown. It also provides the opportunity to ask for additional resources and share any remaining questions. We understand some individual building adjustments will also need to be made. Those can be made during this time as well.
Week of May 18th-22nd- Remote Learning Planning for the 2020-2021 school year. We know Remote Learning is not something that will be going away. Whether we are still using it in August or only using it for snow days in January, we want to make sure we have a quality plan in place to best meet the needs of our students. ELT is in agreement that teaching new curriculum is a must with our Remote Learning Plan moving forward. More details about the week of May 18th-22nd will be forthcoming.
