Parent Connect - October 2024
A Note From Our Principal
Only three weeks until Thanksgiving break. These last few weeks have been so much fun. Our teachers and so many of our students have truly "bought in" to our dress up days and spirit weeks. This has been such a positive thing for the culture of our campus. It connects us, makes us laugh sometimes, and reminds us that school should be FUN. I encourage you to follow along on social media and participate in as many upcoming campus and district events as possible.
November 9th (next Saturday) is a big day for New Caney High School. We will have several booths at the Farmer's Market. We encourage you to come and enjoy. This is the perfect time to support schools and small businesses in the community and get a big jump on Christmas Presents for loved ones. There will be a lot of baked goods, crafts, clothing, and other items available for purchase. Please see the flyer below for additional information. That Weekend our New Caney High School Theatre will also be debuting their fall show. We encourage you to come and enjoy the performance Friday or Saturday, November 8th or 9th.
The next big thing after these fun fall activities is "Angel Tree" and "Put me on the Roof." These New Caney High School traditions get bigger and better every year. This is a way for NCHS to give back big to our local community. I encourage you to follow along while we raise money for families in our community who need some support. If your family needs support please do not hesitate to reach out to jdelorenzo@newcaneyisd.org or kgrimes@newcaneyisd.org. The Christmas parade is another fun Christmas activity that we would love to see parents and students at as well. Please see details about that on the graphic below.
Thanks for all you do and again, never hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
Be the light!

Chromebook WiFi Issues
There have been a few reports of students having internet connect issues while at home. If you child is experiencing these issue please have them complete the following steps while at home on their Chromebook.
Texas School Climate Survey
Our school is participating in the Stronger Connections grant, with a goal to strengthen the school climate and culture and provide additional services and support to students. An online anonymous school climate survey will be administered at our school in the coming weeks. The survey will collect responses from students, staff, and parents to questions related to school relationships, engagement, bullying, substance use, teaching, and the school environment. This information will be used to guide us in promoting a healthy school environment for students to learn at our school.
You are invited and encouraged to complete the School Climate Survey. Your input is important in promoting and maintaining school climate. Similar to the student survey, this survey will include questions about your experiences with different aspects of your school's educational environment, such as relationships with school staff, communication, teaching, safety, and opportunities to be involved in the school. Our goal is to evaluate strengths and identify areas of improvement at your child's school in order to help make Texas schools the best they can be for students, families, and staff.
Currently, all students and families at your child's school are encouraged to complete the anonymous School Climate Survey. You can use the link or QR code below to complete the parent survey.
Cell Phones
All educational resources are available and optimized for Chromebooks. There is no reason for a student to use a cell phone during class time.
Cell Phones may be brought to school but may only be used before/after school, during transition between classes, and during lunch.
Cell phones may NOT be used during class time (this includes in the classroom, hallways, or restrooms)
If cell phones are visible or used, they may be taken up and discipline assigned.
Emergency calls or messages can be delivered from the offices. Calls may be made from the office during the school day.
This is something we will be very serious about this year.
*Research shows that engagement decreases when we are faced with the temptation of a cell phone.
