NEW for 2023-24: The new medication authorization forms required physician's signature and office stamp EVEN for self-carry/self-administration medications, so plan ahead to get these forms completed PRIOR to the start of the school year.
Free Breakfast & Lunch for All Students in 24-25!!!
The State of Michigan's most recent budget has approved free breakfast and lunches for all FAPS students for the 2024-25 school year, however students/families who may qualify for free and reduced lunches should also still complete the free/reduced lunch form as they may also qualify for other discounts such as Pay to Participate, AP or IB exam fee reductions or waivers, and reduced Summer School fees.
Outside Food Deliveries - No Allowed For Safety Reasons
For the safety and nutritional needs of students as well as to reduce disruptions to the educational process, food deliveries to school grounds through outside delivery services (i.e. Uber Eats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc). and direct foodservice vendors (i.e. Panera, Jimmy John’s, Dominoes, etc.) must be pre-approved by school administrators.
Prior approval must also be obtained for parents wanting to deliver outside food items to his/her student and friends as this competes with what is sold in the cafeteria as part of the federal school lunch programs, creates confusion, incorrectly implies students can order food for delivery to the cafeteria, and arrangements must be made to find an alternate location for food consumption for the group.

Annual Notices
Child Find
Child Find is an active process for identifying students suspected of having a disability. The first step requires providing information to the public regarding the availability of special education services.
These notices must be posted annually to ensure all districts continue their efforts to seek out children and students who may need special education and related services.
When a parent, educator, doctor, other individual suspects a child may have a disability, a request for a special education evaluation can be made to the student’s teacher, counselor, administrator or Special Services Office.
Parents can request an initial evaluation of a student suspected of having a disability, and before any formal evaluations take place, the district will provide written notice and, when necessary shall request written consent to evaluate.
The district will provide information about your family rights and procedural safeguards. Upon receipt of signed consent, a district may evaluate the student and determine if there is a need for special education and related services. Child Find evaluations are conducted at no cost to the parents.
Directory Information
In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Fenton Area Public Schools may disclose “Directory Information” from the educational records of a student. Directory information is designated by the district as:
- name of student
- date and place of birth
- grade level
- address (electronic & home)
- field of study
- telephone number (under appropriate circumstances)
- most recent educational agency or institution attended
- participation in officially recognized activities and sports
- weight and height of members of athletic teams
- dates of attendance

Personal Curriculum Notice
A school may not issue a diploma to a student unless the student earns credit for all courses in the Michigan Merit Curriculum (MMC).
A school may choose to modify the MMC for a student after developing a personal curriculum based on the student’s individual learning needs.
A personal curriculum may be developed for a student for any of the following reasons:
- To modify the math requirements
- To modify the credit requirements because the student has transferred from out of state or from a non-public school
- A student wishes to go beyond the academic requirements by adding more credits in math, science, English or Languages other than English
- A student with a disability needs to modify the credit requirements based on his/her disability
- To substitute one Career and Technical Education (CTE) credit for one credit of social studies, health and physical education or a visual, performing or applied art
Once the personal curriculum has been developed, it must be approved by the Principal to be implemented. Please contact your child’s counselor for more information.
