Hello and Goodbye
Ms. Randa has been a welcome addition to our school this year, and we have greatly enjoyed getting to know her. She recently informed her students and their parents that she will not be returning next fall. She is getting married this summer, and her future husband has been offered a job in the Duluth area. We are sad to see her go, but we are so grateful she has been a part of our Cardinals family!
We also welcomed a teacher in our middle school this past week! Mrs. Cindy Carroll is now teaching middle school English Language Arts, History, and Latin and is settling nicely into her position. Mrs. Carroll also brought along a new friend for the students in Ms. Randa's classroom--her daughter, Lucia, who is in second grade.
Ms. Randa, our prayers will go with you. Mrs. Carroll and Lucia, welcome!
Virtue of the Month - Orderliness
Definition:
Keeping one’s self physically clean and neat and one’s belongings in good order.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, please help me grow in the virtue of orderliness. Clear away the disorder in my life that causes me anxiety, prevents me from being responsible, or makes other people suffer because of my own mess. Bring order, Lord, into my life so I can have a mind and heart that are freer to love. Amen.
SAINT
St. Raymond of Peñyafort
Raymond was a Dominican priest who helped train seminarians to be priests. Pope Gregory IX asked him to help with a large project. None of the Church’s laws were organized. During his spare time, Raymond collected and organized all the decrees of the Church. His book was used as the main reference for the next eight hundred years.
Spaghetti Dinner Recap
Our spaghetti dinner was a success! Thank you to all who worked, donated items, and sold tickets.
Recap:
$1491 - silent auction
$ 925 - raffle
$ 720 - wine pull
$2842 - dinner tickets
TOTAL: $5,998
This is $1169 more than last year's dinner. Great job! And, more importantly, I heard so many good comments from people--how much they enjoyed themselves, how good the food was, etc. The kids who helped out did a fantastic job; thank you for having them help!
MTU's Waste Reduction Drive
Tomorrow is the last day for students to bring in the following items for recycling as part of the annual Waste Reduction Drive, sponsored by MTU's Sustainability Demonstration House: egg cartons, dental products, razors, old socks, Brita filters, and empty deodorant tubes. Collection boxes are in the entrance hallway of the school. Thank you for helping us take care of God's beautiful creation!
