We will be celebrating the week with various activities, including a Spirit Week this week:

Cozine Wellness Team
One of our goals this year is for all students to demonstrate positive behavior in school. Positive behavior equips students with the resilience and mindset needed to approach challenges effectively. The best way to teach these skills is by modeling them. Children learn by observing, so when adults consistently demonstrate positive behaviors like patience, empathy, and problem-solving, they set a powerful example. This not only shapes students' habits and attitudes but also helps build their character, setting them up for lifelong success. Together, we can create a supportive environment where students thrive!
Here are six concrete tips to model positive behavior.
1. Show kindness in daily interactions
2. React calmly in frustrating situations
3. Prioritize face-to-face conversations
4. Speak positively about others and yourself
5. Manage anger constructively
6. Show gratitude and appreciation

REMINDER: Action Requested: 2024-2025 CCSD Districtwide Survey
The annual Districtwide Survey for parents/guardians, students, and staff is intended to provide information for Clark County School District (District) and schools regarding progress toward District priorities and to comply with the requirements of the Board of School Trustees and the Nevada Department of Education. The survey takes less than ten minutes to complete and is a vital part of the District’s annual self-assessment. The survey opened on Monday, October 28, 2024, and will be available until 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024.
Parent/Guardian Survey
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to submit their 2024–2025 Districtwide Parent/Guardian Survey online using a computer, laptop, or other mobile device at https://www.ccsd.net/survey. Any parent/guardian with children enrolled at the school are eligible to take the survey.APPLE CORE Contest
One class per grade level is going to win one hour to play a video game truck at school on December 17th!
The class with the highest percentage of APPLE CORE bookmarks turned in by Friday, December 13th. will earn one hour in the video game truck on December 17th.
Only students in the winning classes who have turned in bookmarks can participate. Get reading and turn in those bookmarks!
REMINDER: Read to Spin, Spin to Win!
All students (K-5) should be reading each night as part of their homework. Reading daily positively affects academic achievement, improves writing skills, stimulates creativity, and helps to build empathy. All minutes read should be recorded on the student's APPLE CORE bookmark. Once the bookmark is complete and turned in, students will have the opportunity to spin the prize wheel.
REMINDER: Cell Phones and Smart Watches
At Cozine, students are required to keep their personal communication devices off and in their backpacks during instructional hours. Students are permitted to use their phones before and after school. This aligns with District policy that helps prevent bullying, cyber bullying, unfiltered internet access, and cheating. If you have questions about this policy, please reach out to the office or school administration. At this time, we will not be using the signal blocking cell phone pouches at Cozine ES.
REMINDER: Parking at Cozine
Cozine has a small parking lot, and our lot is closed off to general traffic to keep our students safe as they walk to school. CCSD employees, school buses, and anyone holding a valid Handicapped Pass are permitted into our parking lot. Please see Cozine duty personnel if you fall into this category and need to enter the lot.
Also, to keep traffic patterns predictable for students that do walk, we allow traffic to enter our parking lot at the north entrance and exit through the south exit. Our staff enforces this to keep everyone safe, and we appreciate you helping them with this by following this pattern.
