Message from the Principal
As we enter Black History Month, we are reminded of the importance of celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures, histories, and experiences that make up our school community. At Eisenhower, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student and family feels valued, respected, and included.
This month, we have the opportunity to celebrate Black History Month—a time dedicated to honoring the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black individuals and communities. One way we do this is by integrating Black history into our lesson plans, highlighting influential Black figures and their contributions to various fields. This not only honors our history but also recognizes Black excellence and joy.
In addition to Black History Month, we celebrate the Lunar New Year as a rich tradition of our school, showcasing the Chinese culture we have here at Eisenhower. These celebrations are just a few examples of how we honor the diverse backgrounds of our students and families.
Our goal is to create a school for all students to learn, no matter their race, gender, language, or culture or immigration status. We are committed to fostering an environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.
Celebrating inclusivity and diversity is a shared responsibility. It is an opportunity for us to come together as a community, to learn, to grow, and to support one another. Let us approach this month committed to fostering an environment of respect, understanding, and celebration.
Thank you for your dedication and support in making our school a place where every student can thrive.

Reminder: Child and Working Family Tax Credit
Even if you are not required to file Minnesota income tax returns, you can still file to claim valuable Minnesota tax benefits. The Working Family Credit and Child Tax Credits deliver tax relief to individuals whose income is below a certain level. Both credits are refundable, meaning you can receive a refund even if you do not owe tax.
The new Child Tax Credit is available to Minnesotans who have children under age 18. By filing a Minnesota tax return, you may qualify for $1,750 per child with no limit on the number of children.
The Working Family Credit is available to Minnesotans who earned income during the year. The maximum Working Family Credit is $350 if your earned income is $8,750 or more, and it can increase by:
$350 for no qualifying child
$1,275 for one qualifying child age 18 or older
$2,450 for two qualifying children age 18 or older
$2,850 for three or more qualifying children age 18 or older

Headphone Help!
Dear Eisenhower Families,
We hope this message finds you well! As we continue to enhance our students' learning experiences, we find that headphones are an essential tool for many of our classroom activities.
Unfortunately, some students’ headphones have broken, and others do not have a pair to bring to school. Many families are able to send headphones with their child, while some may not be able to do so.
For those who can, donating an extra pair would be a wonderful way to support our school community and ensure all students are set up for success.
If you’re able to help, here are some affordable options you can consider:
Thank you for your continued support and for being such an integral part of the Eisenhower community. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
2025-26 kindergarten registration is now open!
Open-enrolled families (families who live outside the Hopkins School District): if you have a fall 2025 kindergartner, you will need to complete an Open Enrollment Application for your child by January 15, 2025.
Hopkins School District resident families: please submit a K-12 Student Enrollment form for your fall 2025 kindergartner — even if you are already attending Hopkins Preschool.

District-wide Parent and Caregiver Group for Supporting Gender Expansive Kids
Are you the caregiver of a child who transcends traditional binary gender roles? We are offering a supportive, ongoing group for parents and caregivers to ask questions, share ideas, and support one another. Some children may identify as transgender, gender fluid, non-binary, gender queer, gender expansive, or simply move through the world in a much more gender free type of way. Our first meeting of the year will be Thursday, September 26 from 5-6:30 p.m. at North Middle School, Room 506. This is for parents and families from all of Hopkins schools -- and from all grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school, and beyond). Laura Jensen, Hopkins Schools LGBTQ+ Community Liaison will facilitate the meetings. This is not a group to debate the issue, rather for parents looking to support their child. Questions?
