Grades were submitted by teachers next week. Students and parents will be able to see grades in Aeries this week.
Student Recognition
A huge congratulations to junior Djamila Franklin for breaking our school's pole vault record this week. The record now stands at 11'3"
Northview students, Aaron Le ($5,000), Khang Le ($2,000), and Priscilla Madrigal ($1,500) were awarded scholarships from the ACE Mentor Program of America. The ACE Mentor Program, founded in 1994, is a free after-school initiative that connects high school students with professionals from the architecture, construction, and engineering industries. By addressing critical workforce needs, ACE provides students with hands-on learning experiences, continuous mentoring, and a pathway from high school to rewarding careers in the design and construction fields.
A huge congratulations to our baseball team, who took over first place in the Valle Vista League after sweeping Charter Oak 4-1 and 10-6 this week. Go Vikings!
Staff Recognition
Northview girls wrestling coach Roy Lazaro and Northview boys wrestling coach Bobby Bellamy have been named the California State Wrestling Coaches of the Year by the California Coaches Association. This is a tremendous honor, recognizing not only their excellence but the spirit of dedication, resilience, and leadership they inspire in our student-athletes. Each year, only one boys coach and one girls coach are selected statewide for this prestigious award, making their achievement even more remarkable. Congratulations to Coach Lazaro and Coach Bellamy for representing Northview and setting a standard of excellence for all!

Wellness Center
Greetings from the Wellness Center,
Did you know May is Mental Health Awareness Month?
Mental Health Awareness Month aims to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and promote access to care for all.
Mental health is essential for overall well-being at every stage of life. Regardless of age, background, or experience, prioritizing mental health strengthens individuals, families, and communities.
This year’s theme acknowledges mental health can be a spectrum and aims to meet people where they are in their journey, celebrating the small wins along the way and reinforcing the idea that it’s “ok not to be ok.”
This May it's time to move beyond awareness and take meaningful steps towards better mental health for ourselves and our communities.

Staff Spotlight
Mr. Jon Klaus is a passionate science teacher with a deep love for both the natural world and the wonders of the universe. Outside the classroom, he’s an avid explorer of national parks, always seeking out new trails, breathtaking views, and quiet moments in nature. Big Bear is one of his favorite escapes with his family—whether it’s hiking in the summer or enjoying the snowy landscape in winter, he finds inspiration for his teaching in the beauty of the outdoors.
A huge fan of The Big Bang Theory, he often references the show to bring a little humor and relatability into his lessons, blending pop culture with science in a way that keeps students engaged. One of his most unforgettable experiences was flying in a World War II B-17 bomber—a rare opportunity that sparked his interest in aviation history and the physics behind flight. His enthusiasm, curiosity, and storytelling make science come alive for his students every day.
Thank you for your unwavering years here at Northview. Your Grit and Gold runs deep within.
