GIVE THANKS FOR A LITTLE AND YOU WILL FIND A LOT
A FRIENDLY REMINDER FOR DROP OFF AND PICK UP
Parents, when you bring your child to school and during pickup after school, please pull forward when the crossing guard is waving. This will help us keep traffic flowing smoothly as the winter season approaches.
FROM OUR ACTING PRINCIPAL MS GARNEY
Dear Baxter Families,
I’d like to start by saying thank you for taking the time to meet with your student’s teacher during conferences. Conferences are an important part of what we do, and when we work together great things will happen! Now that conferences are over, please remember to check Q for updated progress report summaries for your student.
Daylight savings time happens on November 3rd, so it’s official, we are heading into winter! As a reminder, please make sure that your student is ready for the snow and that all their winter gear is labeled. As the temperature drops, it’s important that your student has gloves, a hat, a coat, snow pants, and boots. Please let us know if your student is missing one of those items. Students go outside every day unless the temperature is colder than -10 degrees F.
Thank you for working together to ensure the drop-off/pick-up is successful. If you are dropping off or picking up please pull all the way up to the curb. Keeping traffic to one lane will assist with student safety. Please use the drop off/pick up loop when dropping off or picking up students, the bus loop can get crowed with all of our buses.
We will have our first family night in November, the focus will be on social emotional learning skills. More information will come soon!
Finally, if you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to contact us at 907-742-1750.
Thank you,
Chelsea Garney

What We Did:
October
At the beginning of October, students continued working on using their feet to kick and dribble a soccer ball. The intermediate grades played some small-sided games that used these skills, The primary grades focused on their kicking form and passing the ball to a partner. In the middle of the month all grades learned about their cardiorespiratory system and how it changes during and through exercise. Students finished up the month working on the balance beams with 5th grade putting together a balance beam routine.
What’s Next:
November 4 - November 8: Balancing/Balance Beams (K-5)
November 11 - November 15: Speed (Cup) Stacking (K-5)
November 18 - November 22: Indigenous Northern Games (K-5)
November 25 - November 29: Indigenous Northern Games (K-5)*
