5 Tips To Talk About Digital Citizenship Every Day | UEN Teacher Tips
Need ideas for talking about digital citizenship in your classroom? UEN Product Manager, Dani Sloan, suggests making it a daily practice. In this episode, learn five ways you can model digital citizenship every day.
Share your thinking out loud: As you write kind emails to others, walk your students through your thinking. This is a great time to talk about email etiquette; having a subject line, salutation, important details and a nice sign off.
Use class examples: Point out the times you see students being respectful in online discussions. This is a great way to talk about how being positive and respectful online benefits all of us.
Share the SafeUT app: Licensed counselors are available 24/7 and ready to listen to any sized crisis or concern. Make sure students know the web address and how to download the app.
Cite your sources: Model citing sources by adding citations to the images you use in your presentations. In Utah’s Online School Library you can scroll to the bottom of most pages to find a citation.
Talk about screen time: If you have screen time goals, share them! Talk about tips and tricks you use to stay focused and the importance of managing your device usage.

PDTV: Culture of Learning
Educational animations can be an effective tool for both enhancing student understanding and demonstrating student learning. In this course, participants will learn how to integrate educational animations in the classroom. The course provides a series of readings, resources, links, and video tutorials that explain what educational animations are, why they are worth considering, and how to create and use them effectively. Animation tools that will be touched on in this course include: Adobe Express, Canva, Google Slides, PowerPoint, Adobe Animate, and Adobe Character Animator. This course requires access to two animation tools (Adobe Animate and Adobe Character Animator) that are not free for the general public. Many teachers who are currently teaching in Utah have access to a pre-paid Adobe account through their school district or charter school. It is highly recommended that current teachers contact their school district or charter school to find out if that is the case, and to find out how to access it. If you are not currently a public school teacher, you could pay for an Adobe Creative Cloud account or download free trials of Adobe Animate and Character Animator.
