NEW - In N Out Fundraiser is Back!
As a Thunder Ridge feeder school, we like to contribute to their Grizzly Gives by having an In-N-Out food truck come out to Coyote Creek as a fundraiser. When I say "Food Truck", I mean a VERY large truck (See Picture).
- Date: November 4, 2024
- Time: You can come anytime between 5:00 - 6:00pm
- Price: For $5.00 per person, you will receive a hamburger, chips, and a drink.
- Where do you buy the tickets?: Tickets will be available for purchase starting on October 21st. You can either come to the front office and purchase your tickets or you can purchase them through your My School Bucks account and pick your tickets up at the front office.
- Go into your My School Bucks account > Click on "Store" > Click on "Browse All Items" > You should see the In-N-Out Icon from there. Purchase from there.
Please Note: Once you are handed your tickets, we can not replace them if they are lost.

NEW - Gifted and Talented Updated
6th Grade CogAT testing and Gifted Referral Testing for Grades 3-5
DCSD is committed to implementing equitable practices to increase access to advanced/gifted learning opportunities. Based on state and national recommendations and requirements, we implement Universal Screening for students in 2nd grade (February) and 5th or 6th grade--a student's final year of elementary school (November). 6th Grade Universal Screen As part of this process, ALL students in 6th grade not identified for gifted programming will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) the week of November 4th. This assessment indicates the level and pattern of cognitive development of a student in comparison to grade and age mates. These general reasoning abilities, which start developing at birth and continue through early adulthood, are influenced by experiences gained both in and out of school. If your child is already identified for gifted programming, they will not participate in this universal screen testing. Your Gifted Education Facilitator will contact you directly with information about this process. Gifted Identification Referral Testing If your child is in grades 3, 4, 5 and you believe they need evaluation for Gifted Identification and Services, you may refer your child for testing by initiating the Gifted Identification Process. NOTE: Requesting this assessment automatically initiates the process to evaluate for Gifted Identification. Please request CogAT testing for your child by completing the Referral for Gifted Identification linked HERE. Upon receipt of this form the Gifted Education Facilitator will connect with you to discuss next steps in the gifted identification process.
Discovery Program Application Window is OPEN
The DCSD Elementary Discovery Program is a center based gifted program designed to meet the needs of highly advanced gifted elementary school students (grades 2 - 6) who require intensity of instruction and acceleration beyond what can reasonably be expected from gifted programming and services provided through their school.
The Discovery Program Application Process for the 2025-2026 School Year is OPEN for parents/guardians. The due date for applications is November 13, 2024.
The Discovery Program is designed for students with the following characteristics:
•Exceptional intellectual/cognitive ability
•Consistent advanced academic achievement and performance
•Intense curiosity and motivation to learn
•Unique ability to make connections and understand complex concepts

NEW - CCE Therapy Dog - Wilford is Back
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Coyote Creek Elementary School is excited to announce that an Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) program is coming to our school to promote social/emotional well being. AAI is a goal directed and evidence based intervention, in which an animal that meets specific criteria is an integral part of the process. This intervention will include a certified professional volunteer working within their scope of competency. AAI is designed to promote improvement in human physical, social, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning.
The program may include small group and/or individual interventions focused on social and emotional wellness. Participating in this program and interacting with a therapy dog is entirely voluntary. Our school will utilize this program as a part of research based practice and interventions specific to the needs of students.
The therapy dog, Wilford, and his handler, Kimberly have been insured for liability and have undergone extensive training and certifications for Animal-Assisted Interventions.

Veterans Day Flags
For the past four years, CCE has celebrated Veterans Day by placing flags around the perimeter of our school. Each flag will have someone's name who either served or is serving now in the military or is a first responder (Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Federal Agents, EMTs, Doctors or Nurses, etc.). If you have someone in your family (more than one is fine) that we can celebrate by putting their name on a flag, please fill out the link HERE. We will give that flag(s) to your students for them to place along the grass.
Veterans Day Tea
- To further celebrate Veterans Day, CCE would like to invite those who are Veterans, current military personnel, and first responders to Coyote Creek Elementary School for a performance from our choir and to enjoy refreshments.

The POP Tab Recycling Program
The Pop Tab Recycling Program is a fundraising project to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver. The Ronald McDonald Houses in Denver and Aurora serve as a home away from home for many families whose children are seriously ill and are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
How the program works
Aluminum beverage can tabs are collected and sold for cash. Also tabs from soup, tuna, and fruit etc. cans can be collected.
