PLC (Professional Learning Community) 90 minute early release days support planning for student learning, interventions, and targeted support. This time is invaluable to our teachers, and our students, as it gives critical time to our teacher teams to design skill-based instruction and assessments, review student progress data, and design supports and interventions. Learn more about what happens in PLC at DVUSD.org/PLC.
Front Office will be closed to the public:

All Things EQ
Motto: Mistakes can be helpful if I let them.
Mistakes can be very upsetting, and it’s all too easy to let them affect our self-worth. We may even be tempted to punish ourselves mentally after making a mistake rather than to spend time and energy learning from the mistake instead.
Teaching your child that everyone makes mistakes can help them maintain a healthy perspective. Mistakes, after all, are a normal human experience and are often the first step to learning new things, which is why it’s important to teach our kids to put their time and energy into learning from their mistakes (so they don’t make the same mistakes twice) rather than punishing themselves for making the mistake.
“Mistakes are painful when they happen, but years later, a collection of mistakes is what is called experience.” -Denis Waitley
One way to help your child learn from their mistakes is to ask them these questions:
1. Did you make the mistake on purpose? (Help them acknowledge it was a mistake.)
2. What can you learn from this mistake? (Help them find the lesson in the mistake.)
3. What will you do differently next time? (Help them not to repeat the same mistake.)
Guilt or anger won’t help you to avoid making the mistake again. Instead, the best way to avoid repeating a mistake is to learn from it.
“Failure can be the key to success; when each mistake teaches us something.” -Morihei Ueshiba
