Welcome to Week 8 Term 2
We have enjoyed settling into our nee rhythm under L2 as we begin planning for operating under L1.
We are excited to be soon able to host more of you all onsite for events such as Sports, Powhiri, Student Led Conferences, Kapa Haka Performances and open days again soon.
Our first opportunity to have larger numbers onsite (including staff and students) will be our first whole school assembly on Monday at 1015. At this assembly we are presenting our Swimming Trophies. If you know your child is a reciepient and cannot make it, let the Office know and Debbie or Mia will arrange a photo to be sent to you - or you can get a copy off our Website or Facebook Page.
Our next opportunity will be our Student Led Conferences which are scheduled for the last week of this term. Please see the information below to make your appointment time. If by chance you are unable to come onsite, please chat with your child's teacher and they will arrange another avenue to connect with you and your child.

Reporting to Parents - Monday 29 June
We have crafted up a special Mid Year Report, bearing in mind, we have not had your lovely children a lot this half year. This report will be a souvenir type COVID-19 2020 special if you like, as we are in what will be deemed as a moment in history.
Your child/children will have the opportunity for self reflection and comment as will you as parents. We look forward to reading about your Lockdown Learnings.
Reports will go home Monday 29 June with your child.
Survey for Parents.
We have appreciated your support with our finishing time under Level 2 of COVID-19 restrictions for Term 2 - thank you.
We have had some parents asking us if we are continuing with this arrangement over the winter months.
In the past we have had a 2:30pm finish right through to Labour Weekend - which a number of schools do.
We are asking you to tell us if you wish to have either a 2:30 finish or 3:00 for all of Term 3.
If the majority wish for a 2:30 finish for Term 3, please know we will accommodate Bus and Oscar children here at school until the pickups can be done.
We will also work with the Growing Kids provider to also accommodate the regular Growing Kids clients to ensure there is no extra charge for the half hour between 2:30 - 3pm, should we go with that.
OR
Alternatively, we have the option of returning to a 3:00 finish,
Please fill in this quick survey, so we can have the Parent voice in our review, to enable us to plan forward.

Taranaki District Health Board - School Dental Clinic
Kia ora,
The effects of COVID-19 have been widely felt, and as a nation we have had the opportunity to protect those we love by being in lockdown. Although the Community Oral Health Service is an essential service and worked through lockdown, we were severely restricted in Levels 3 + 4 by the Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ), and we were only permitted to provide emergency and urgent dental care which we did from two clinics, one each in Hawera and New Plymouth.
Now that we are in Level 2, DCNZ have advised we may see more children, providing we adhere to new restrictions which affects the number of children which may be seen each day. In order to comply with these restrictions, as well as ensure we are able to provide care to those who need it the most, we have had to prioritise children according to their clinical need. This means that we will be continuing to see those who were under treatment before lockdown and those who have teeth that are sore or need treatment. Unfortunately for the time being we will not be able to complete routine exams (check-ups).
As soon we are able, we will be contacting parents and caregivers to offer appointments for exams, but until then our teams are working very hard to care for the children who need dental treatment to manage pain and infection. However if any child has any dental pain or concerns, parents should phone 0800 825 583, and they will be able to speak to someone who can help them.
We would appreciate it if you could put this message in your school newsletter to whanau. And if you have any queries, you are welcome to contact me.
Nga mihi,
Linda Tuck
